They have been using this to till the clumps out for seeding. Actually they just make smaller clumps with it then roll out this netting/ straw material which I believe has seed in it. After a couple of weeks the grass starts coming up through it.

Looks like a 790 or predecessor. Green ROPS with rounded corners is one clue /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

A mid-80's model 750 or 850?

It is a 770 but that is all I know. You guys are good!

The mid 80's tractors or 50 series had an open hood cover on the sides. This one is enclosed so the motor is not visible which they started to do on the 70 series. Because of its smaller size ag tires in the rear and the higher operator position relative to fender height, I would of guessed it being a JD 670

DJLX,

I really don't believe that's a 770. Maybe a 670 but what's pictured I believe is way too small to be a 770 (I have a 770).

Arrow,
I wasn't aware the 50 series didn't have side engine covers.

I will go on a hunt tomorrow and take a close up. It is possible I saw the numbers wrong from a distance.

Here is the close up. It is a 770 and has a Landpride tiller on the back.

I stand corrected. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Pretty embarrassing since I have one.

It just looks so small in that first picture. The hood doesn't appear to be taller than the waist of the guy that's standing there (but maybe he's 7' tall). I'm not a big guy but I thought the hood was higher. I guess the FEL on mine must make it seem larger (and taller).

Anyway, I still love mine. I was moving dirt for the neighbor yesterday. A full load of wet clay in the bucket and a 6' box blade with full load in tow. Moved a lot of dirt in a hurry with no problems.

Unless someone changed the decals on the hood, I also would of guessed incorrectly. I always thought one could put a 24" rim out back on the 700 series. Of course I can be wrong, but this one doesn't look like it could clear a 9.5x24" tire. I think the tractors looked and ran way cooler with the exposed engine but heck ,they're even getting compact tractors to look like swoopy cars. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
