Hello all,
I picked this up at a garage sale awhile back. It's about 15 inches wide and 10 inches tall as it sits in the photo. Some old gray paint still present in places. Haven't weighed it but guessing it's about 40-50 lbs. Is this a tractor weight or maybe for something else?

In buying it my first thought was to repurpose it as a poor man's anvil, then I thought about chunking it into a 3 point ballast barrel I'm in the process of building. Before I do either does anyone know what it was used on originally?

thanks,
Dave

It looks like a front ballast weight, made before the 'suitcase' weights became standard.

You see them underneath the front of vintage tractors (no FEL) to counterbalance attached implements off of the back.

Thanks Wagtail, I was guessing it might be from an old Ford or something.

Cheers, Dave
