I've seen in other forums that the 4000 series can be reprogrammed for greater output. Is this also true of the 3000 series? What's attainable? How much would it cost to do and how would one go about it?

Thanks!

This question has been tossed back and forth any number of different occasions here on TBN. And regarding different color machines, too!

I've never seen it said that you can easily (or uneasily..) reprogram the 4x20 series or the 5000 series or the new AGCO 125-165hp tractors!

The machines all share the same basic engine but differ considerably on HP.

I might have been sleeping and missed the latest news on tweaking the HP programming --- so, I'm all ears and eyeballs, now!!

Are you just curious, or do you actually need more power?
I have a 3520 and it seems to do everything I need pretty good. The only exception being cutting crazy thick stuff with my MX5.
It tills soggy clay with a 65" tiller no problem and drags around a 72" box scraper in the same soil like it was happy about it.

The 3720 is intercooled, right?

At the present time I would say that the 3520 would have sufficient power. My dilemma is sort of complicated in that I'd like to be "just enough" tractor for my present and forseeable future needs. My present needs include only pulling around a handful of 60" implements. My future needs may include cutting and baling small squares as well as up to 20 acres of tilling and planting. I can strike a deal for a 3520 demo at a local dealer here....no 3720's available with the same incentives.

They also have a 4320 demo which is priced fairly aggressively. Problem is....as I mentioned before.....All my implements are 60" and the 4320 is 68" or more at the rears.

So, if the 3520 could be bumped up to the same 44 Gross HP as the 3720, then I could realistically buy it knowing I could re-program as needed for future use.

I can't see the 3520 being good for baling. Just not enough weight, the hp may be just enough for it. I know your interested in not getting wider implements but 20 acres is going to take some time. The wider attachments the faster your going to be done. I'd go with the the 4320 without question for your plans.

The 3720 is intercooled. I am curious how the cooling systems compare?

Sounds like the 4x20 series is a beter fit.
