Can you move a pole barn?

I moved a 36' x 94' pole barn had to disassemble it to move it the 30 miles. It had trusses and 8"x8" treated poles in the ground. I made up a 20' jib boom to attach to the forks of the tractor to lift the trusses down, it worked real well. Hard part was hauling trusses on a 20' trailer

on tlc or discovery they were moving a building and cribbed up to trusses cut posts and raised it some more for travel clearance
It looked like they used a cargo container with 2 girders going across then 2 down the ends to pick load to close to ends of trusses.
They drilled new holes at site before move but pored the new bases after building got there right to post anchors.

I moved a barn for my |FIL last year with my forklift, will see if i can find a pic of it. Maybe you can rent one ofthese forklifts and do it yourself over a weekend. It was really pretty easy we made a spreaderbar to distribute the weight and picked it up through the center of the roof. We carried it across a pasture for about 500 yards to its new home. Going to look for pics.

Anyone have any idea on how to move a pole barn? It is really more of a giant carport (no sides) but has prebuild rafters and such. It is just in a bad spot.. I would love to move it but not sure how and or if it is worth it.
If it wasn't too large, I don't see why it couldn't be done. I would think the easiest way would be to cut the poles off at ground level and reset the building onto a new foundation. Brace and lift from the inside.

My next door neighbor erects steel buildings for a living. He has all sorts of cool forklifts and stuff. He says he will move it for me this fall when he gets slow. Just pick it up he says...

Be sure and photo that process and report back:D I'd love to see it.
A neighbor here has a pole type shed probably 30x40 I can get cheap, her husband who had it built died and she has no use for it. Even if it could be moved I'd never get it into the area I wanted it even if I could get it out of her place, perhaps a huge helicopter could do it:p . For the cost of that I could probably build two!
Considered disassembling it but figure the time involved would be huge, more than just building a new one - the the metal roof would most likely need to be replaced, figured there would be NO way to line back up all the holes where it was originally fastened:cool: Conclusion- cost of labor and hassle factor- might as well just build my own from scratch.

My neighbor moved his pole barn shed a few miles away. The shed was about 40x60x14'. They cut the 6x6 posts off at ground level, lifted it on to a trailer designed to move houses and down the road it went. The whole thing was moved in a few hours. It would certainly be easier to move than a house. At the new place, they lowered the building over the site, bolted new 6x6 posts to the new ones which were sitting in place in predug holes. The holes were cemented at the bottom. Once bolted in proper postion, the holes were filled and the building done.
