"We've got loads of weedy trees on our land and the FEL does a nice job clearing that stuff."

Steve,

Can you elaborate on that ? I have a fair amount of weedy trees too but presently use the chainsaw (they are 2" or less in diameter).

LOL -Jeez Pete, the tractor isn't that big /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Middle left hand side you'll see a black box - thats the drain that will be where the drive way is... or will be... all the rest of it is buried again. The trees are in nice neat piles all around the edge...

I'm thinking I need a bigger picture out there. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks Dave, not getting anything done except looking at pictures. Good thing the big chief is gone!

Just funnin' /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

These are the types of projects that make buying that expensive tractor worthwhile.

I can't help you with the picture size, but it seems that you have a couple-hundred-thousand dollars worth of talent providing you with sound advice. That's a good-looking tractor, BTW.

We call them "Swamp Maple" here in New England. They are typically 2" in diameter - but get larger... survival of the fittest I guess. Anyway - Their root system runs shallow and it's pretty easy to clear them away with the front end bucket. In the past I was doing like you - cutting them with my husky trimmer - its a string trimmer on steroids and a strong metal blade. Then I'd clear all the little stumplets with the BH. Now that the ground has thawed I've found I can handle these up to about 4" by just pushing them over and scraping the roots out. It's a nice clean process and a lot fast than pre cutting. Only down side is I take a whack in the face from time to time handling the 15' to 20' saplings as they make their way to the pile on the loader.

Thanks Pete - it is a nice setup - it's proving to be better than I hoped. I orginally thought I'd have to get my buddy in here with his monster Fermec to accomplish so much of what I've gotten done. I may not do it as fast as he would, but it gets done and I don't leave nearly the mess that he does. His tractor is so heavy that it leaves huge ruts.

Have a great weekend - I'll be getting as much done as I can since my "little" 4310 goes in for it's 50 hr. and to get another SCV on Monday. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Dave and All - I've found a website that hosts pictures for free - with some limitations. It is based on your paypal account - Check it out Free Picture Hosting

I'm uploading some to it now - I'll post the links. Let me know what you think.

Here is the link to a picture on the new site I found. This is set at their medium quality.

The limitation is pretty stiff -- only 10 Mb bandwidth per month. So if you have 1 picture that is 1 meg in size and 10 people view it -- you have exceeded your limit.
