Andy, I proposed series only because that's what Mith had asked for. If I were to do this myself I would do something more similar to what JRP posted. Sell them and buy the right engine. I think the both the series and parallel solutions are equally half-assed. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Actually though, when I bought my house down here, the previous owner had left 12 push mowers on the property, which I aquired. About seven of those mowers I fixed and sold on ebay, complete and running, for between $30 and $70 each. Ther est were trashed so I treid just selling the motors on ebay. No bites for the $4.99 opening bid, so I just threw the rest into the county's scrap pickup pile. Really, for the couple hours effort to get a crappy push mower running, the $30 sale price doesn't even justify fixing it to sell. Next time I'll probably just give them all away, and save myself some hassle.
Probably the best possible solution for those engines, is to build a DIY foundry furnace, smelt the aluminum parts down into ingots, and sell the aluminum to the DIY casting hobbiests on ebay. In block form those engines would probably be worth lots more than they are now. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Granted, the cost to build the firnace would far exceed the revenue generated from aluminum ingot sales.
