Tractor
ls 3039h
Hi, 1st post and 1st tractor purchase. After a lot of consideration I am down to a kioti ck35 or ls3039h. Same price of 19.5 plus gst for either.
Multiple kioti dealers quote me the same price and I believe it to be msrp for canada.
My question is, Is it possible to get them off MSRP? So far they have shown no inclination to move. I also requested package prices on a rototiller and small backhoe. They merely added up what I believe to be msrp and there's your total. No discount for packaging it together.
Btw these are all cash pricing as the ls dealer doesn't offer LS financing but does have national leasing financing @ 7.25%. The Kioti deal is the free loader or financing. I'm not worried about financing I am just looking for the best price.
I'm at the point with them where I will be heading to N dak to buy the rototiller and other attachments from TSC or mills fleet farm and only purchase the tractor w/ fel here.
Am I naive to think that making multiple purchases here at the same time should motivate them to discount their prices?
If Texas and Oklahoma weren't so far away and my truck wasn't so old I'd head down there and take advantage of their discounting:laughing:
Anyway thanks for any advice.

I am not from Canada but in Australia, with a similar smaller market, you also find less preparedness by many dealers to negotiate much below the rrp.

I think it is the importer rather than the dealers that are setting prices.

They tell you it's the small volumes and fixed overheads but you do not see the prices falling when your currency appreciates significantly.

The dealers don't seem to make a lot out of a CUT sale. Maybe 10%

If it's any consolation you would, over here, pay at least another $5000 for a CK and more for a LS .

I went for the Kioti as they have a very good dealer network and parts supplier here. Have no regrets.

Must be frustrating for you seeing lower prices just over the border but I'm sure, knowing Canadians, you wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the world.

You should be able to get them to move. I know in Ontario they will bargain a bit. Not too much though to be honest. How much cheaper is it in ND?

Yes, after giving my local dealer 3 tries I ended up getting my Kioti CK35 HST with Woods backhoe from a dealer in Oregon. All done by e-mail and phone. He shipped it to the border and a tow truck company took it from there. My dealer, even though he is out of country, has looked after me very well when I did have an issue with the Woods backhoe and a couple of minor issues with the Kioti. The Canadian dollar was a bit over par at the time so my $10,000 USA down payment only cost me $20.00 for exchange. Tractor and backhoe cost somewhat less :licking: than what the local dealer priced one at. :)

N. Dakota would be for the implements only, they don't appear to have a real market for cuts there. Its texas and OK where the real deals are. An example is, here (not for the tractor I want (s3010)) is 17k..... down SOUTH......., the same tractor with a box blade, rotary cutter and an 18' double axle trailer is 17.5 I'm not sure about the linking policy here or I would posts the links. That is some pretty serious discounting on a package deal.
Kioti prices are a lot closer in canada to the us price. Its the LS where the differential is signficant.
It is what we have come to expect and accept I guess. last year I bought a husqvarna drt900h tiller. The price at Northern tools in N dak was 700 up here dealers quoted me between 1050 and 1300:confused:. Northern won't ship that item to canada(honda engine) and husqvarna won't honour the warranty here if not bought in the country and seeing as the warranty had to be used twice I made the right decision buying it here at the higher price.
The worst example of cross border pricing that I am aware of is on Jeldwen windows. Manufactured in winnipeg, shipped to the US and it still pays people to drive to the states to purchase the windows because they are cheaper there even after figuring in your transportation costs to bring them back:confused2:.
LS usa tells me that the warranty is valid in Canada but they can't force the local dealer to do any warranty work on it if I don't buy it from them. I am not sure what they would pay the dealer for warranty work compared to their normal shop rate. My luck with buying new and warranties is not good:laughing: I mentioned the husqvarna, well my toyota is still under a warranty recall, my boat was recalled and the mercury motor on the boat had to have the powerhead replaced with under 20 hours on it also. SO warranty is a deal maker or breaker with me as quality control from the factories appears to be a big issue.

My dealer in Oregon looked after the warranty. He shipped me the parts and I paid the local tractor mechanic. I then sent the bill to the dealer who reimbursed me. It was all good and would do the same deal again. :)

same from WPG... gave up on dealers in MB getting anywhere near close to what i could buy in ND for.

So.... 12 months ago hooked up the trailer and headed off to Grand Forks and bought there. Saved 25% and if I do ever have a warrenty problem I will simply drive it back down. Well worth the effort.

if you buy quality stuff and look after my experiance never need the warrenty anyways. Did it for sxs, quad, snowmobile, car and tractor.

Some day / just some day we may get parity pricing but not holding my breath.

Me thinks key to strategy though is buying quality and looking after what you have. I bought Kubota.

If you plan to work it hard / abuse it then maybe not such a good idea.

I bought my Bobcat CT230 in Morden at Green Valley Bobcat. I'm in Portage la Prairie, MB. I have found implements in the USA before but have bought most here in Canada used.

Bobcat is made by Daedong which also makes tractors for Kioti.

Cross border for the tractor is more difficult. Some dealers won't deal unless you have a USA address and then warranty claims can be an issue. Then who know if you get static at the border. I've had border troubles before when what I was bringing in was completely legal and allowed...but 'my friends' at the border thought otherwise and made life difficult.

Maybe get some quotes from the nearest Ontario Kioti dealers. Shipping from T-bay might not be that much?
Depending on the exchange rate I think the Cdn dealers have quite a bit of room on MSRP, like 15-20%, but they do buy the tractors in US funds so if you watch the exchange rate you could put some pressure on the dealer to buy from kioti on a good exchange day.

In Manitoba a fair deal for a new tractor is 10-15% below MSRP. I would think dealers should be interested in selling as winter is not the peak market for them. Maybe you need to change brands?

John Deere and Kubota both offer 10% Equine discounts. Just requires you to become a Manitoba Horse Council member ($60) to qualify. ;)
