Whatever treatment you choose, make your decision with the doctor you trust so you can have confidence in the choices you make. I have been fortunate so far and not experienced cancer. I am convinced that the longer we live, and the more tests we take for other problems, they are sure to find cancer eventually. Best Wishes.

I was a lot luckier than the OP and others. I had a lump on the left side of my cheek back in 2013. After many tests I ended up going to Univ of Penn Hospital in Philly. Top rated doctor and hospital. I had surgery, a superficial parotidectomy, for a tumor that was 5.7 x 4.1 x 3.6 cm. It is was a benign tumor (Warthin's tumor). Lucky that it was non-cancerous and also that I had minimal nerve damage, despite the fact that the facial nerve was encircled by the tumor. For me it all ended well.

With the exception of I had cancer in the Lymph Gland and the parotidectomy. the area was 6 more active spots. For years had regular visits with Dermatologists to remove surface spots. some deeper .
My reason to reject the Chemo after considerable thinking of who did I know that had Chemo. and realized could visit all but 1 at the local cemetery.
My Doc. of close to 30 years said that at 86 there were very few years to continue being active and after treatment of chemo could take as much as 3 years to recover. Could you expand on the time period to heal,
thanks for your reply. ken

And an update on the treatment chosen to be Radiation after the personal Doctor advised to do so.
Saying Quality of life and expected life span. And now over 1/2 completed treatment.
It is not intolerable but the throat feels like half-cooked bacon stuck behind the tongue.
The medical group is good. feel confident they care and are too tired to do much but nap and sit on the porch. Is not my usual activity.

Medical wiped out the insurance and zeroed the in and out-of-pocket plans.
driving one way 50 miles for a 5-minute treatment. return home wore out.
To hot outside at this time to work anyway.
Fuel costs parked the tractor.
But now griping it will be better in time.
Thanks for the replies and suggestions.
