Hi guys. This is my first post, although I've been reading anonymously for a few weeks. I recently bought a used JD4400, 4WD, HST with a 72" mower. So far I LOVE it! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anyway, do you know if JD makes a canopy (preferably fiberglass) for the 4400?
Thanks in advance,
Ron

I don't know about an OEM product but these people make a pretty nice looking one specifically for the 4000 series.

I just got a flyer in the mail from them today. The bucktop canopy is available through JD dealers according to this and your nearest bucktop dealer can be found by calling 800-726-8677. Obviously, I'm considering one as well. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If any of you folks get a canopy, please be sure to post pricing and installation details and pictures. I'm interested as well - somehow going through six months of rain this winter and next spring without a canopy isn't too appealing /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I have one of those on my 4100. Very nicely constructed and looks good too. Since I live in AZ, I drove 4 hours to the factory in Phoenix and picked up a "blem -minor paint imperfections" for a big cost savings. Installation is a snap, you just need a few wrenches and a drill and bit. You don't need to drill the ROPS, just the bucktop itself. the canopy brackets clamp to the ROPS with u-brackets.

jyoutz, would you mind telling us what the list price is and what you paid for your paint-blemmed top? Thanks!

They have 4 different sizes. I emailed and asked if one of them would work on my 990 and they recommended the second smallest which has a list price of $380.

It doesn't have light holes though, I would sure like lights on it... wonder if the next bigger one would work.

Thanks a lot for the info. I used their online contact form to request a brochure.

I bought mine 2 years ago for about $275 (I think). I think that list is $400+, but don't know for sure. Firebird doen't sell to individuals, just to JD dealers. The exception of course is they will sell a blem to any walk-in customer.

I could do that tommorrow, but you can see a pic right now by going to firebirdfiberglass.com

Here you go. See attachment of my Bucktop canopy for my JD4710 that I purchased through my John Deere dealer. Cost was $430.

Just requested a brochure on the canopy myself - I've asked them also to let me know which JD dealers around me in MN carry them. Definately a must have, I believe.

Thanks!

Thanks for the pic. Looks smooth. Can we get a shot of the whole tractor? I've never seen a 4000 series with a Canopy.

As far as lights are concerned -- it's made from fiberglass so I'll bet you could drill a couple holes and bolt on the lights with a piece of steel backing them on the underside.

Personally, I plan to mount my Tiltometer up there.

You could drill the fiberglass and bolt to it. But I bolted a piece of angle iron to the steel canopy support bracket underneath the canopy. Then I mounted lights to this angle iron.

Thanks guys. I bought the Bucktop canopy from Firebird Fiberglass. My local Deere dealer charged me $380+tax. That's the list price but he didn't charge me the $80 that it cost to get it shipped here from Firebird. Here's a picture...

Looks very nice. Does it work good for keeping the sun off and worth the money?
