Bird,
Didn't you say at one time that you had a Wells Ag canopy? My dealer just started carrying them. I need to buy one because I am on my tractor EVERYDAY and need some protection from mother nature. I don't want a fiberglass canopy and that was the only thing that I could find in my area until now. The Wells Ag model that my dealer has is heavy duty diamond plate alumimum. This my be just what I need. If it was fiberglass and I hit a tree limb or a truss, it would break up or crack. With alumimum, maybe I could bent it back out.

Jerry, yes I have a Wells Ag Company canopy and really like it. I had a choice (and assume you do, too) of the unpainted diamond plate aluminum or steel painted to match the tractor (same price either way; $295). I went with the steel, and yes, I've gotten too close to a couple of trees and bent the edges/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif, and that's some tough steel to try to straighten.

Bird,
Tough is what I want. My dealer only has diamond plate. It looks good. I may get one when I can afford to (after paying my propane bill). It's about the same price at $300.

Jerry, maybe I got a $5 discount since I was buying it at the same time I bought the tractor./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I've seen one of the diamond plate canopies and I asked the salesman which was strongest and which would reflect the heat away from me better. He didn't think there was enough difference to tell it, and I'm inclined to agree, so I bought the painted one just because I liked the appearance a little better. In other words, he and I both think it just boils down to personal preference. On my old B7100 I had a homemade frame with canvas; sure helped but sure wasn't as big and strong as the Wells Ag canopy. And of course, I've got two tiltmeters, a rear view mirror and front and rear work lights mounted on the frame of this canopy.

Bird, how about firing up that new digi cam and give us a look at your canopy. Based on all the things you HAVE told us thats in that canopy, I figure theres more to discover when we actually see a photo of it!

Larry, I'll try to remember and make a picture or two of it tomorrow.

Thanks Bird. I'm thinking I need canopy, especially this summer. Problem is I have the folding ROPS. I'd have to rig up an easily removable canopy to allow me to fold the ROPS when I need to do so (e.g. when I need the tractor in the garage). Some type of canvas rig might be best but I sure like the looks of the hard tops. Sounds like another project coming up!

What? You're going to wait for daylight?

Bird, I thought your new camera came with a flash! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Larry, I don't know of any good way for a canopy and folding ROPS to work well together (bound to be one). My canopy is certainly not one you'd want to take off. I don't know what it weighs, but it would definitely be a two man job to take it off.

And Harv, the camera works at night; the old man don't; it was bedtime./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif And right now it's 28 degrees outside, so I'm going to wait until the sun comes up before getting out in the shop to overhaul an air ratchet and 3 impact wrenches, and then play with the camera. With the cold weather and high humidity we've been having, I've been a bit concerned about the possibility of condensation if I take the camera outside at night; don't know whether that could be a serious problem or not.

Larry,
I'm thinking the same thing and that's the main reason I didn't get a cab. With a cab I can't get it in where I need to. I've looked all over for an easily removable canopy and haven't been able to find one that would work. Let me know if you do find one and I will do the same if I find one or figure something out. My uncle is coming out to visit in April and he's the fabricator guru so maybe he can figure something out.
