28 degrees and cold. Hardly worth putting a jacket on. Maybe a flannel shirt. It does sound like you folks in Texas and surrounding states have had a bit of a chill in the air this winter.

Up here in Michigan the sun was actually out some over the past few days and we did get above freezing a couple of times. Many folks were frightened by the big orange ball in the sky. Weren't sure what it was.

Bob, if it was dry and sunny, 28 ain't bad at all, but 28, cloudy, and a little fog makes it seem much worse. If it were just a matter of being out in it; I can dress for it, but the work I need to do can't be done with gloves on, and handling cold steel with bare hands just ain't my cup of tea./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif And if something doesn't change soon, I'm going to have to re-do my schedule. I planned to get started planting the garden in just 16 days, and even that's later than normal./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Heck, Bird -- I was just jerking your chain. You'd have to use your tractor to drag me out to the shop after dark this time of year. And my fuzzy slippers don't do well in the mud. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

concerned about the possibility of condensation

That's a valid point. You would probably be okay if you kept the camera in a case and only took it out long enough to take a picture, but I'm with you -- why risk it.

Starting a garden in mid-February!!!??? Guess I have to get out more.

I'm thinking that by mid-February we'll get another serious snow dump, and maybe, just maybe we'll see more grass than just a patch over the septic tank by mid-March. Up here, early to mid-May is the best you can hope for to get most of the garden in, and I usually don't put the tomatoes in until around Memorial Day. A few things earlier some years, but not often.

I just finished making an aluminum diamond plate canopy for my 3710. It fastens by metal brackets clamped to my foldable rops. It has a frame of 1" sq. steel tubing. I made it removeable so I can fold the rops when needed. The canopy is 4'X5' and has a 1" bent down rim. It can be taken off by removing 4 pins. The part clamped to the rops stays on permanetly. Total cost about $185. Painted the metal Kubota blue to match tractor. Wish I had a digital camera to show pictures. At the time I made this I didn't know any one manufactured an aluminum canopy. I made it from aluminum to reduce weight. The canopy was just completed today and I have not yet used it.

OK, Harv & LarryT, the sun came out today, so I've been experimenting. Harv, the self timer works on the camera. And Larry, the canopy looked better when I first got it because it had a nice heavy duty black molding all the way around the edge. After I scraped it loose in a couple of places by rubbing it on trees, I just took it off./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

And then I took a picture from off the back corner to show the rear work light, and hopefully the toggle switch mounted on the outside of the canopy frame, about in the middle. Don't know whether it will show up or not. And the wavy part of the canopy on the rear to the right of center is a little additional "customization" I did when I backed it under a tree limb (and that steel's stiff enough I haven't been able to straighten it).

While I was experimenting, I tried for a picture of my tiltmeters, and wondered how bad the flash reflection off the rear view mirror would mess up a picture.

Pretty nice looking set-up and indeed all of the pictures turned out fine. I especially like the front and rear work light set-ups. Plenty of light up high shining down without getting into your eyes. Nice. Was the one tiltmeter a model with the electronic warning? Do you find you use the mirror much? I've operated large flat deck tractors with the large mirrors outside the cab, but have never given much thought to putting one on a smaller tractor.

Also, since you seemed to have your serious police officer look on: I really wasn't speeding officer, the speedometer just bounces some times. I'll slow it way down and get it fixed tomorrow.

Nice bunch of pictures; they came out beautifully.

Now you have to document that hydraulic setup /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. Just do us a favor; start a new thread 'cause that other one is waaaay to big to read anymore /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
