I just filled the rear tires last week too.

Stupid newbie question here. In this situation, does having the box blade on the back help or hinder? I know extra weight should provide more traction, but hasn't that boat already sailed? I mean, that mud looks like a wonderful lubricant and the amount of weight from the BB isn't going to help. Would removing extra weight make it easier to get the tires out of the mud? Or would it make any difference? Just curious.

my guess is that in this situation you are just plain screwed :p with the frame in the muck, BB and FEL are just for looks. Time for a winch or a neighbor with a big JD. ;)

Geedub,
Sandy soil, no vegetation yet, water everywhere, everthing falling apart:eek: . Been there...done that! My question is, did YOU get stuck getting off that tractor?

If you cannot get someone to pull you out: Get 2 logs about 6-8 inches in diameter, and about 1-2 foot longer than the diameter of your tire.

With chain or strong ratchet straps, fasten them (one to each tire) in an "\" pattern across the outside diameter of each rear tire, and then in lowest gear, slowly move backwards. The "stilts" will catch and move you out.

Slow is the word, and anchor the straps/chains through the wheel slots.

You can also lay the logs under the loader to to give you some push ability. They may have to be moved a time or two.

Usually in extreme conditions of mud like you were working in more weight is a hindrance. Larger diameter tires are a blessing!:D

A come along or winch looks like your best bet since it is sloppy everywhere and a bigger tractor may just slip in the muck.

Here's a video showing what RFB is describing..YouTube - Fordson tractor stuck in the mud

Are there any trees close to being inline at the rear that you could attach a chain to? I was thinking of a come-along, though I'll bet that boxblade will need to come off. Maybe that could be skidded out on some 2x lumber.
