Another good source of nitrogen is urine. I've seen reports of around 18% nitrogen. One master gardener I know dilutes hers about 10/1, e.g. a half gallon in a 5 gallon container. Otherwise, it's too rich. Actually a one liter urinal into 3 or 4 gallons would be good to do a daily dose.
Cheaper than buying blood meal. Need the blood meal for my blueberries: mix 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 blood meal, sulfur and sand. The sand just dilutes it and makes it easier to distribute by the handful, 2 or 3 per bush. Could sprinkle some sulfur and then use the diluted urine; I guess. Would save some $.
