RK37HC
I'm posting this here since TYM makes tractors for numerous brands. I have a RK37HSC that the forward pedal won't move. Yesterday I was using the grapple to clean up some branches and limbs left in my pasture by hurricane Milton. I moved a couple piles and on the last batch I moved I dumped the load and backed away to get another batch. Whoa and behold I couldn't depress the forward pedal. Reverse works fine so I thought maybe as I was backing over branches maybe one got tangled in the linkage. Crawling under the tractor I couldn't see anything. It appears that there is no mechanical connection between the linkage and the trans. It looks like the linkage just connects to a sensor that the arm moves one direction for forward and the other for reverse. It was getting dark so I didn't get to spend much time looking but I can't imagine that the sensor would be able to freeze in only one direction. We finally got power back this morning so today will be spent cleaning up other messes such as thawed food and so forth. This pedal is locked both with the tractor running and off so it's not a hydraulic issue. Like I said the FEL, bucket and reverse all work fine. Any ideas so I have some suggestions when I get back out there?

Thanks......Don

You say the pedal is somewhat locked, while you didn't find any sticks jammed in there, it may have bent the linkage.

Can you have someone working the pedals while you inspect the linkage and how it moves? With the tractor off of course.

Thanks for the reply ptsg. This afternoon I crawled under the tractor again and with more light than I had yesterday I see that the pedal linkage does in fact have a linkage rod that moves another lever that appears to go into the transmission. I can reach the pedals with my hand by just reaching in the cab. i see the linkage move freely when i press the reverse pedal but when i press the forward pedal there's no movement of the linkage. The pedals are linked so when I press the reverse pedal it forces the forward pedal up and that moves freely. Nothing is bent or obstructed in any way. My first thought is to disconnect the linkage from the level that goes into the transmission but I can't see anyway that the pedal binding won't disappear once I disconnect it meaning it's an internal issue. But I don't know what would have caused it just by moving forward and back 20 feet at a time. Yesterday I tried all three transmission ranges (low, med, and high) but that made no difference.

Is it possible that you would share some pictures with us? From the linkages and maybe different angles. Maybe more set of eyes can spot something out of the ordinary.

Go ahead and disconnect the linkage from the lever on the transmission. That is the next step in the troubleshooting. It will be stiff but you should be able to move the lever by hand. You will also be able to move the linkages.

Also, does your tractor have cruise control? Is it engaged?

I'll see if I can get to the tractor sometime today for pics. It's stuck in the pasture since I don't have forward. Clean up around the house from hurricane Milton is taking priority. At 77 I don't move quite as fast as I use to. I don't have cruise control.

Thanks guys for the responses......

Do you have rear remote? If so make sure it is not stuck in detent mode running all hydraulic pressure through the relief valve?

I took a few minutes this afternoon and crawled back under the tractor. Taking pics wouldn't do much good because there are steel hydraulic lines and so forth running through the same area. it would be hard to tell what parts are trans linkage. TractorTYMe, it's not an issue with hydraulic pressure. Reverse works just fine along with the FEL and 3 point. The forward and reverse pedals work off the same linkage so that when i press on the reverse pedal the forward raises up and that action is smooth with no binding. Trying to press on the forward pedal is impossible. It's almost as if it's not supposed to move down. I can post a pic of the parts break down if anybody thinks that would help.

Thanks.......Don

I think the mystery is solved. My neighbor was over helping me top some very large trees that had snapped over during the hurricane. Mentioning it to him he said maybe a second set of eyes would help. He crawled under the tractor while i pressed on the pedal with my hand. A couple minutes later he said he found the issue. There's a rigid hydraulic line that's bent and the linkage is hitting against it. He used a bar and straightened the line a little and the pedal now moves. I remember running over some large vines when moving the tree limbs and evidently one got wrapped around the line. I didn't try moving the tractor but I'm sure it will move. Tomorrow I'll get another one ordered. Can't believe I didn't see that when I was under there.

I ordered the hydraulic line last Friday the 25th. The guy ordering it said that of it was in stock it would take about a week to get it but if it had to come from Korea he had no way of even guessing. Evidently it was in stock because I got a call yesterday afternoon that the part was in. Wow, that's impressive. About 72 hours from ordering until arrival. The tractor works fine with the old line but my neighbor that found what the problem was said that the line had a small kink where it was bent and that would restrict the flow some. Haven't picked the part up yet but the mechanic said it was $110 and some cents. Sure don't give them away.
