Can't remove PTO shaft from auger's gear shaft

Yes, the auger turns and has gear oil, no sign of leaks. All is good there, just the PTO shift is the booger.

Yes, I can chain it to a tree. Should've thought of that.

Any luck getting it apart?

I would pull on the pto shaft with a come-a-long type ratcheting device so that I can control the force. I would use a propane torch to apply just enough heat to melt a wax candle held onto the shaft. The wax will flow into the joint and lubricate it. Then take two large hammers and hold one against the seized yoke. Hit the opposite side with the other hammer several times. Tighten up the come-a-long and repeat till the yoke is off. Good luck
 Good thinking.

I would not use heat it will damage your gearbox seal.I agree with some here that say chain to a tree.I would use a come along hooked to the tractor apply pressure and hit coupler with a hammer to shock it.Use plenty of rust penetrate while doing this.it should come off.I would not use the tractor to try to pull it off not enough control

Since I have an oxyacetylene torch, I would just slice off one side of the yoke with the torch, then it should come off easily. Easy to do without harming the driveshaft. If the OP hasn't gotten it off in a week what with all the pull suggestions, that may be the only choice. He could easily load it up and take to a welding shop for this since he doesn't have a torch.

I would use the tree pulling trick before anything more drastic. I jammed a bushhog PTO shaft on my tractor once when the rear wheels went into a ditch. I couldn't remove it manually or with banging etc. A slight tug with the bush hog chained to a tree (and 3PT attachment points freed) did the trick nicely.

Hammer it. Same thing but different, my doorknob cousin was trying to jerk his rusted in receiver hitch out with a chain and a tree and was making even more of a fool of himself. His Pa heard the racket and told him to put in low lock, keep a constant pull on it while he cracked it one with a BFH. Popped right out.

The key is to have a strong backward pull. Hitting it once you have a backwards pull would certainly be better than trying to jerk it off.
