My Farmi logging winch PTO shaft won't reach with 'Easy Change' installed on my NH40D. It's the reason I bought 'Easy Change'. Does anyone know if Farmi makes a longer PTO shaft for the 351P winch, or perhaps know of a high quality after market shaft?
Additionally the 'Pat's Adjustable Stabilizer Bar' I bought can't be used with a PTO shaft since it blocks the shaft from connecting up. Yes the "directions" tell you this but Pat should tell you up front. How many non PTO tractor mounted implements can there be? My only one is a rock box for weight that I never use.
Anyhow I seem to be doing a lot of work to be able to use an "easy" device.

Here's a link. Most likely your shaft was cut to fit your tractor, as will the new one, even with the quick hitch.
As for none pto implements, I own a York rake, a back blade and a trailer hitch/weight box setup.

Also, CCM has a comprehensive PTO shaft page.

I always remove the 'Pat's Adjustable Stabilizer Bar' just after getting the lower pins hooked cuz it will just get bent up or pop out and get lost if left in place.

PTO shafts are pretty generic and you should be able to get a new one from most tractor dealers or stores like tractor supply.

Thanks everyone! Tawilson: that's the link I need to get started. N.E. Equip.'s site didn't seem to show it when I went there before I posted. Yes I believe the shaft was cut to size by the winch dealer but it sure isn't easy for a big guy to get in there to hook it up. Any problems with lenghtening the shaft? Also; any risk using Pat's Easy Change as part of a 7000 lb. pull?

I know how to shorten a shaft, but I'm not sure how to lengthen one. I think you will need to get a new one and cut it to fit. TSC didn't have one when I wanted one. They had a bin full but nothing that matched.
I would think that anything you do to increase the distance between the winch and the tractor will increase the leverage and the forces on the tractor. I've bent my lift arm with the 501 winch, but I did something wrong. There are a ton of threads here about tractor logging, so you can get a pretty good education before you hit the woods.

how about something like this pto extender ?

Would seemingly be a good option - I bought one after I picked up a Speeco Quick Hitch from TSC. I had cut the driveshaft for our tiller previously, the PTO shaft for the snowblower had already been cut when I bought it, and the driveshaft for the chipper was just too short from the factory. I've used adapter only for operating the chipper and it has worked fine thus far - provided just the right amount of extra length.

One thing I was a little disappointed about is that the fit over the tractor's PTO shaft on the female end of the adapter is a little sloppy :( - I need to pull it off and examine it for any abnormal wear.
