One more thing which I'm sure you already know, but when you splice the horizontals together, make the splices so they meet in the middle of an upright, and the top and bottom at opposite ends of the gate. Another reason for 2x all around, 2-24' sticks will do most of the spans, 1 more will do the makeups and ends, and a 20 stick will do the uprights, assuming it's a 5' tall gate.
Having the strongback that high might result in a bit more deflection at the bottom. I think that we did the OI cantilever gates with strongbacks closer to the middle, as they didn't have the diagonals welded in like the chain link ones and were a bit whippier. Yours is fairly short so that should make it a bit stronger.
