Carnaval Cruise

Good Mornin Eddie,
Ive been on a few cruises with my wife and they are a lot of fun. As some other posters have mentioned, if you do drink, which I believe you dont, then the only extra charges would be your land excursions... If you do drink, you will get quite a bill just before you depart the ship ! :p

I have been on Carnival twice, but most of our cruises have been Royal Carribean. IMHO, Royal was better, especially in the food department JMO...

If you want to splurge on anything a balcony room is the way to go IMO... its really great to sit ther with your wife or friend and share a glass of wine while looking out over the ocean together !

In any event have fun, Im sure you will...

Need some one to baby sit the pig ??? ;):)

Eddie, the only Carnival cruises with that itinerary leaving out of Galveston around that time are the Carnival Conquest on October 30 or the Carnival Magic on November 27. But a real good deal is the Royal Caribbean Mariner leaving Galveston on November 27 also with the same itinerary and it's more than $100 a person cheaper and some people think Royal Caribbean is better even though the Magic is a newer ship.

I will second the acupuncturist. My wife can get motion sickness bad. She has to fly about once or twice a year for work and she can get air sick really bad, even on a calm flight. She got this device that looks like a watch but sends electric pulses into preasure points on the wrist. Since then she has only gotten sick once on a really bad flight and she continued to wear it after the flight and got over it much sooner. In the past if she had a bad flight she would be sick all day and not feel right for a week. So for her it has been the greatest thing. It cost her a little over a hundred dollars but she said she would spend 5 times that for what it does.

What website are you looking at? I just went to Orbitz and did a quick search. We don't have anything set in stone, but want to be back before Thanksgiving and we can't leave until she gets the time off aproved from her work.

We have cruised on Carnival about 20 times along with a few on other lines. Yes, some things like booze can get pricey on a 7 day cruise. You can pre order certain brands of booze for your cabin and it will be cheaper. They are cracking down on booze smugglers and will x-ray checked bags. You can bring your own soft drinks. When we took our kids we would pack a couple of 12 packs.

As far as ports on the 7 day cruise this is some of the things I have done.

Cozumel will have the best shopping, take a taxi downtown and never take the first price. For a good beach take the taxi out to Paradise Beach, new fresh water pool. One thing we have not done yet is the Cozumel Bar Hop tour. A friend of ours from Paradise beach now runs this. It will take you to the bars on the other side of the island.

Grand Cayman will be the best beaches and best water tours, We used Captain Marvin for our tours. Google his name and you will find him. Prices of the tours will be cheaper than those offered on the ship. If not taking a tour just take a taxi to one of the many pubic beaches along the 7 mile beach.

Jamiaca is one place you will want to take a ship tour. Or take a taxi over to Margaritaville, the best of all the locations.

You do not need a passport but will need a state issued birth certicate. A hospital copy will not work.

For parking in Galveston we use EZ cruise parking. Best price and if you book online you will save a little more.

If you are cruising Nov 6 then I will buy you a drink as we are on the last sailing out of Galveston on the Conquest.

Thanks everyone for your comments. We were looking over the options again this morning and it looks like it's a go. She needs to put in her vacation days and get them aproved, and once that's done, we'll book the trip. Right now, it looks like early November that she is going to ask for.

Eddie

Sailing on the Conquest will be a little cheaper than on the new ship. Both have a 6 day cruise offered in November. Both skip Jamica which is not a big deal.

For sea sickness take Bonine or ginger pills. Start taking them the morning you will board the ship. I never have had an issue and my wife has only gotten sick a couple of times.
