Agri Supply is offering the Caroni TM1900 for $1789.95-freight included. Seems like a great deal. BUT- I need a flail to cut and maintain fairly rough hayfield type ground. Doesn't need to be golf coarse quality cut since it will be cut several times a season- grass probably won't ever be over 6" at anytime. Flail won't ever be used for brush or anything even close. [ Have other mower for that]. The Caroni TM1900 offered by ASC has 56 flails. Info says it will cut material upto 2". I'm not sure if this might be too coarse of a cut for me. Any thoughts on that? The Caroni website has the TM1900 listed with different blade combinations. I guess ASC only offers the one configuration. Also, ASC website says it has rear rotation. Does this mean blades rotate the opposite way of travel, throwing cut grass forward?

You may want to read the website again, i think the shipped price is closer to $2100. I have also wondered about this mower. Is it any good?

My Mistake. The price is almost $2100 delivered. Still a good price though!

I have no experience with Caroni flail mowers but I did own a Caroni 6' RFM for a couple of years. I will never buy anything made by Caroni again.

A bit off-topic but one of my rototillers is a Caroni. The 3-point attachment bent like a pretzel the first time it was used. Had to buy a 3-point A-frame and replace it.

Caroni may be a manufacturer to be avoided.

I own that Flail and its worked great for me. Now i've only owned it for about 8 months and have only used it about 7 or 8 times but it has been trouble free (except for my first set of belts). The third time i used it i was cleaning my dads 5 acre lot (gets cut twice a year.) i hit a 6" stump that stopped the tractor in its tracks. No damage to the mower at all. I believe you will be happy with the cut, but i don't think it will cut a field full of 2" brush.
Good luck
Brian

Caroni is, by far, the worst piece of equipment I have ever owned.

I have had a Caroni TM1900B for over 2 years and love it. It has done every thing I have asked of it. There has been another long running thread about flail mowers esp the Caroni. This is the first thread with this many nay sayers about Caroni. Where have you been?

My experience is way different than others. I bought a Caroni after a few bad experiences with King Kutter. My 6' Caroni finish mower has been absolutely trouble free for 3 years.

Sure is a big [confusing] difference of opinion on this one.
