These units are becoming so homogenized... they all are looking about the same... (on the surface...)

What companies are Woods and LandPride importing from?

Lastly, isn't the KingKutter tiller and mower Ohio,USA made?

Woods & Bush Hog are Maletti products. LP purchases some side gear boxes from Italy, Tines from Azzimondi, Center gearboxes from China and Italy.
The King Kutter tiller has an Italian center gearbox with a Chinese Side gearbox. The tines I believe are Chinese or Indian now. The king Kutter is mechanically sound but the fit and finish is not that good. The King kutter finish mower used all Chinese components. I do think they may purchase Azzimondi blades. It's just a small world in AG.

I've had an FL1200 (~48") for about a year now. The only thing I don't like about it is the way the offset is done. There are two fixed points where you can bolt the top-link mast, and the lower link clevises can be adjusted anywhere along a front bar.

The problem is, in either position, the top-link mast does not allow the gear box to line up directly behind the PTO. The end result is that in either position, the PTO shaft is angled, even when perfectly level. On my BX, this extra angling causes problems when raising the tiller, because the combined offset is too much for the shaft to turn without binding up. The problem is particularly severe with a BX because the PTO shaft has to be cut rather short to fit my tractor. I have to make sure that I have the PTO disengaged before raising the tiller too far (about 2/3rds full height). Now that I'm used to it, it isn't that big of a deal, but I still would rather it not be an issue.

Other than that, I've been pleased with the tiller. I don't have a lot of area to till, but every square inch of it is rock-infested. So far, the abuse does not seem to be a problem. I got it from Agri-Supply for I believe $970, including tax and shipping.

Hi Mark- I agree, it is indeed, a small world in ag, albiet different----When I started in the machinery business 26 years ago, it seemed there were a lot more mfgrs and most were vertically intigrated. The consumer would buy only the color that daddy had used--however--today, most of the new equipment and tractor lines are outsourced for components parts and assembled where there is a cheap labor source and, or a subsidized government incenitive--It is really a shame that many Consumers still have a desire to be brand loyal, and really, there are not many companies to be loyal to--It is a different world today, for sure!!--Ken Sweet

I visited the local TSC yesterday. The KK 5' tiller has tines on it that says Spain. These are also on sale til April 1 for $900 in some stores.

If its says Spain on the blades then its the same MFG that supplies Agric, Agrator, and some Howards (JD) tillers made in Spain.
