Part of my shed project meant demolishing sections of the old shed that had been infested with these. The removed wood has been laying on the ground for several weeks. Couple of days ago, I started moving that pile to the burn area and removing a few nails that remained. As I was pounding and banging on a couple of pieces, they started buzzing. It wasn't long before they started appearing trying to get out having been awakened rather rudely.

Still don't get the trap notion though. If they can get in, why can't they get back out?

How come minnows can't escape a minnow trap? A wire mesh cylinder with two funnels pointing at each other fitted into the ends. The critters can't seem to discern the tiny hole that leads to freedom. They instead bang their heads against the sides of the container everywhere else until they die. Maybe there's a lesson we humans can learn from their behavior?

I don稚 have much luck with traps.

I have a lot of luck with giving the children BB guns and offering a $1 bounty though:thumbsup:

Reminds me of the time we had yellow jackets nest in a cavity beside the back door to the house in NJ. Had a teenage party. Issued fly swatters. They took care of the yellow jackets.

I haven't had any luck at all with the bee traps. Maybe I was using the wrong perfume? I did find that when I used permethrine as a perfume, they seemed to just go away and never come back.

Yep, also there's enough bright light from the jar that they can't see the hole to climb back out of.

The bee is confused. Doesn't understand why it sees light in the jar and can't get out. Not smart enough to backtrack through dark.

They have gotten out several times. I watch them go in, watch them inside for a few minutes, then go away. I come back later, they're gone. Oh well.

Meanwhile, it seems like they'll go for any hole they can find. I picked up my 18V circ saw and found two of the screw mounting holes on the side filled with pollen.
