Carry All attach

Good Day:
I want to order a carry all for the Case, the kind you make a box for to carry whatever. Been looking at them, all seem to be angle iron with cat. 1 pins w/ 400lbs. capacity. Where do these bend if you overload them? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Is it worth reenforcing the steel? (I have free welding time available) Any recommended mfgrs. or is the $90 cost just match the materials? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

TSC also carries a pallet carrier that is heavier.

Though as most of us have noticed.. the regualr 'cheapy' 3pt carriers.. like the TSC units are halfway decent.

If a failure occoured.. I'd imagine it to be at the vertex of the angle, or weld from horizontal to vertical member.

I don't think it would be too difficult to add a gusset or two or strapping , and then to build up a box.

Before I mounted my pto gen to a pallet then to the carrier, i used it for all sorts of things. Lots of people also use a 3pt scoop as a tool carrier..

If you have free welding and want to build a strong carry-all then here is a set of plans you can buy. I used these plans and built mine from 2.5" x 1/4" angle. You can also add additional reinforcements.

Go the www.how-to-plans.com and order a set of plans. They are only $6.95. I built and modified mine from these plans. It will easily carry 500 lbs and will max out at 800 lbs or so the plans say but it will hold more because I have done it.

I bought my carryall at TSC and it is rated for 1,000 pounds. I have had roughly 1,600 pounds sort of by accident. I was moving railroad ties and was figuring how much the 3pt hitch could hold and forgot to take into account that the hitch will lift more than the carryall was rated for. It didn't bend the carryall or damage it in any other way but I won't do it again.

I overloaded my cheapie carryall and it spread at the pins since there was not a crosspiece at that point. It is still useable just looks funny.
