Observant readers of the Feldmann TurfVent thread might have noticed an underlying project. Here are those results.

Nothing really special here: a Tractor Supply brand carryall frame, some 2x12 lumber, some bolts, and a chilly breezy day...

That's amazing you found 2x12's that are straight. It seems like all the dimensional lumber I see at Despot & Doh's (Depot & Lowe's) is what I call 'Pretzel Wood' with the 2x2's and 1x2's being the worst.

I have the same RaceDeck flooring in my home office for a chair mat. It sure beats using those crummy chair mats one finds at Orifice Crax (Office Max) and similar places.

It looks like your carryall should do serve you well.

I like the casters. Great idea. I think I will add those to mine.

what is that a gasket?

Casters will probably go on mine too, but no plans for inside storage and the drive is gravel now.

Scrap strips of 15 pound roofing felt (aka "tar paper"). In theory, this will prevent contact between the wet wood and the underlying steel, which may eventually rust the carry-all arms. It should also prevent water from being trapped and in turn rotting the wood planks. I had about half a roll of leftover roofing felt just standing there and it seemed like a good idea.

ps:
Pretty much any time you have wood in contact with something other than more wood (example, concrete) you should put a barrier to prevent migration/collection of moisture. Ask anyone who has had a shady building contractor support floor joists directly on concrete pillars without a moisture barrier -- the wood wicks moisture out of the concrete and quickly rots, sagging the house in a year or two.

n.b.

After using the carry-all for a bit last evening (just light work), I am already planning some modifications. For one I want to mount some tool holders behind the upright portion. Also, need to add some tie-down eyes.

Before I do anything else, however, I am going to cut angles on the upper corners of the carry-all back wall. From the operator's seat on my BX it is not possible (at least with the seat belt still fastened) to see the back edge and rear corners of the carry-all. This makes backing up to a job area somewhat cumbersome as you don't really have an idea about where the rear edge of the carry-all is in relation to the stuff you want to move. Some fairly deep diagonal cuts at the corners of the top 2x12 should improve things -- and if not I will use the table saw to rip a few inches of height off the top 2x12 as well.

Per above, I cut the top corners off ... which makes it easier to see where the back edge of the carryall is when you are seated on the tractor.

Also, the 2x12's have been drying out and shrinking significantly. :)
