I am planning on building a carry all with this frame. I have searched here and am grateful for all the great pictures and ideas. However I never came across any dimensions. I'm planning on a 5 ft width as that is the same as the tractor using 2 x. Is that too wide? It will be used mainly for retrieving firewood from some hilly timber. Also I welcome any suggestions you may have. Thank You!

I don't see any problems with 5' wide as long as you can maneuver without smashing it. One suggestion would be to build your platform or box then just back up to it and hook up kinda like a pallet then tie it off and go. You could even leave it tied up until you needed just the forks.

Maybe someone will have some pictures that will give you some ideas. I built something simular but used an old large electrical panel for the box just use it to carry saw and fuel and other small tools.

My thoughts of a carryall were derailed by pallet forks. I bolted some boxes to a big pallet & that is now my fencing caddy. I run a PHD on the rear while fencing, but if I didn't I'd look at 3pt pallet forks & pallet based something on the rear.

Look at IBC totes. You can just scrap the bladder & use them for firewood or what not. Easier to toss the wood in those & just leave it in there. Tote it around wit the pallet forks whenever you need to move it. You can find those IBC totes for cheap, especially nasty ones used for paint & what not. Portable or clean ones go for $100 around here, paint ones for maybe $30.

Mine is 5' wide by 3' using 2 X 12's PT. You gain an awful lot of anti twist strength on those angle iron rails by bolting something across them.

Mine is around 5' (can't recall exactly) and it's been very helpful. I just gauged the width off the rear tires and never really thought about strength, but it seems to be very sturdy. I used mostly PT that was scrap from an earlier project...I had to use a couple of pieces of non-PT, because I didn't have any PT 2x4s on hand at the time. I have some extra 2x4 PT on hand now, and just haven't gotten around to making the switch.

It's not fancy, and I did it for the cost of the carry all and some bolts, so it's pretty inexpensive but functional:

My carryall is 5ft 6in wide. It has 3 sides, I use it to carry fire wood, I put a tarp on the front and put raked leaves in it and various yard waste, I mount my 25 gallon yard spray in it. Use it to carry things that are too heavy for me. Use it to carry around tools. In the winter I keep it in the basement and put firewood in it.

I put wheels on it, so it is easy to move around.

I took the same frame and redrilled the 3 pt pin holes lower. I put a hydraulic top cylinder on it. That gives me the ability to dump. I filled in the sides and use it for miscellaneous stuff. Here it is with a 50 gallon water drum and elec pump off the tractor for the garden. I like the dump because I can get rocks and dump them or fill it with manure and dump it. - I used to use it for wood, now I use the bucket.

I put a pallet as the bottom part and then added some 2 bys to attach some uprights, etc. Pictures below.
