Carry All

Looking at a King Kutter Carry All. Can these be used as a fork lift for pallets? I'm thinking of building some side panels onto a number pallets so I can stack my fire wood and make for easy hauling to the house. Anybody else have a good solution or idea? Currently I double or triple my efforts on loading my trailer, stacking at the barn and then winter comes and I then haul and stack at the house. There has got to be an easier way. With a Carry All I can potentially stack where ever I am on the property cutting the wood and I'm done.

Run a search on "carryall". There are tons of good ideas. Reading all of them will keep you out of trouble for hours

Check KK's product information (brochures a the store and their web site). They have two carryalls, the light duty one and a heavier duty one that is made for carrying pallets.

You can carry pallets with them, the only problem is that they are not very strong where they make the 90 degree corner.

Just bought the KK carry all today. Picked 2 palets of small rocks with it with my B 2620.......... No problem .. got to the big full pallet from Lowes and there was a problem. Don't blame the carry all.... Just the lift Cap of the 3Pt.. Probably 700 lbs there........ The KK did fine........ No need for me to buy pallet forks. these worked fine and cheaper.

Perfect, thank you all for the information. ae_ted, I like your carry all bin with the universal seet/half gate idea. I'm sure with a carryall I'll build one of those at some point. Great for stuff/kid hauling. I'm going to TS and buy the heavier duty Carryall and start building my fire wood bins. I'll start with a few mock ups before I build too many. I may eventualy use plastic pallets so I can get some years out of these. Thanks again.

I think you'll be happy with the HD one. I used to have one years ago. I sold it when I stopped burning wood. D'oh!

Now I have a LD (el-cheapo) KK Carryall that works OK, but the upper mount is twisted a 1/4 turn from hauling the lower half of my deer stand into the swamp. The bouncing induced by the bumpy ride placed too much leverage on the mount - entirely my fault. It was probably only 650 lbs, but most of the weight was hanging 8-10 ft out the back.

I use a KK carry all and it works with pallates fine.. My pto gen is pallate mounted and I use my carryall to move it.. etc.

I have one of the LD KK models and I've been surprised at how much I've used it. It's had a lot more loaded on it than the 500 LB rating and it's still as straight as when I got it.

A plan never works the way you want. The bottom holes on the mount for the 1000lb carryall I bought are too high and I only get 4" of lift which is not enough. So I'm thinking of drilling some new hole so I get more lift. When I lift this pallet I get some deflection and it does not come off the ground on the backside. Before I proceed what do you think this stack of wood weighs? I would not think it would be that much but there is a lot of weight out to the end. Is my plan too much to ask from this carry all? I'm contemplating plan "B" but I like my concept. I used fiber glass engine pallets and they work great.

It doesn't look like more than a few hundred pounds to me, 500 tops. Can you add chains from the lower rear corners to the upper front corners of the pallet rack? Then you could make a couple short buckles or chains to snap around the front of the rack latching them to the top corners of the carry all. It wouldn't be quite as fast to pick up and drop the pallets, but it would keep the rack from pulling to the rear, and help keep the weight focused to the front of the carryall. Another thing that helps... after backing the carry all into the pallet, shorten the top link as much as you can. That will give you more tilt to the front when you raise it.
