590m case backhoe
This equipment was just service about a month and a half ago, the operator is saying that before he could plow a pile of a dirt in second gear but now it the bucket hits the pile and doesn't even budge. In first gear it works ok but in second it was faster moving material. From my observation the engine has a slight bog but NO smoke whatsoever emits from the exhaust. Injectors were bled....twice. Water seperator was cleaned out, air filter still fairly new was cleaned out. But still the complaint is there. Am I missing something?
Please any advide will be greatly appreciated!

Check to be sure all the gaskets and O-rings in the fuel filter are present and properly assembled. Sounds like it might be sucking a little air.

thank you Cycle_gator! i was also recommended to drain the fuel tank and flush suction lines, maybe sludge build up, but i will definatley check those O-rings as well!

sounds like torque converter going out

The 580 CK is essentially gravity fed to the fuel pump (which is contained in one section of the Roosa injection pump. So fuel flows from the tank to the injection pump through the two filters and back to the injection pump. Fuel bleed is essentially using gravity to remove the air from the system as there is no primer pump..However, as the fuel filters are on the pressure side, if there is an air leak it may cause a loss of power, but not necessarily a stall. It would be a good idea to check the sediment trap in the fuel tank for water, make sure fuel flows easily out of the fuel tank, then the hose leading into the fuel/injector pump. At least that will eliminate the fuel supply side as a cause of the problem.

Any time there is a loss of power following servicing on a diesel, I am immediately suspicious of some small issue in the fuel system. Typically, things just don't go south suddenly like that. Is this a power shuttle or manual clutch version? If it is a power shuttle it would also be worthwhile checking the hydraulic oil level in the torque tube and also double check, if it was changed out in the servicing, what kind of fluid was put back in. Had a Honda auto once that would just about not get down the road at all unless one used the Honda dealer version of ATF in the transmission. Not sure the Case is quite so picky, but the the power shuttle is intended to run on Case spec hydraulic fluid (cannot remember the initials right now) but not on regular automotive ATF.

CYCLE_GATOR THANKS FOR THE GREAT INFO!! YES PLAN TO GO THRU THE WHOLE FUEL CIRCUIT, ALSO IT IS A POWER SHUTTLE AND THEY DID DO WORK RECENTLY ON THE HYDRAULICS SO I DIDN'T EVEN THINK ABOUT THE HYDRAULIC LEVEL. I NEED TO CHECK ON THAT HYD FLUID THO I ALWAYS THOUGHT THESE TAKE THE UNIVERSAL TRACTOR FLUID BUT I MAY BE WRONG, THANKS AGAIN!

The power shuttle uses TCH fluid (Transmission, Converter, Hydraulic). It does have different properties than UTF. If the container says it meets TCH specs (the Mil-sec number for TCH is MS-1210) you are good to go. In the last 20 years Case has replaced TCH with Hi-Tran Ultra and can also be used, but I think is even pricier than TCH-type fluid.

THANKS AGAIN FOR THAT GREAT INFO! I HOPE ITS SOMETHING SIMPLE LIKE YOU MENTIONED, SOME O-RINGS OR FUEL ISSUES. I'LL BE SURE TO POST WHAT I FOUND.

WELL THIS PAST SATURDAY I WENT THRU THE WHOLE FUEL CIRCUIT, DRAINED THE FUEL TANK BLOWED OUT AND CLEANED THE FUEL SUPPLY LINES, REPLACED FUEL FILTER, ADD FRESH DIESEL, BLED INJECTORS TWICE, ONE FOR GOOD LUCK. AS I MENTIONED 1ST GEAR WORKS GOOD, SECOND GEAR WHERE THE OPERATORS IS USED TO OPERATING IN IS STILL SAYING THAT IT LACKS THE POWER AS IT DID. THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT THIS LOCATED SMACK DAB IN A HEAVY TRAFFIC OUTLET MALL, WHEN I'M THERE THERE IS NO ONE TO DO DUST CONTROL AND I HAVE TO BE VERY SENSITIVE ON THE DUST. YOU THINK WE MAY BE HAVING A TRANSMISSION ISSUE / TORQUE CONVERTOR? THANKS! YOUR FEEDBACK WOULD BE VERY APPRECIATED!
