Bumping back as I have some movement since this was last posted. I did manage to get the valves out in 2017, but have not touched it again until now. Anticipating mowing season, I would really like to not have to mow around this beast and to actually use it.
Case 885 Removing Hydraulic Control Valve 4 - YouTube is the link to the Hydraulic Video 4 on Youtube. I also had to engage the help of the Brits over at David Brown Tractor Club as that seems to be where the experts reside on these old things. I also managed to track down a used guide plate to replace the one I broke.
Things on my to do list are:
to lightly polish the valve holes and valves with baby powder or 6000 grit paper
order the orings and backer ring for the cylinder
clean it all up with de-greaser
Change hydraulic fluid and filter (which I managed to track down
figure out how to put it all back together
If I get it working, I'll order a reman waterpump to complete the fun.
Hopefully I can get this thing at least putting around again.
