Case DX35 hydrostat PTO problem.

I also posted this in the Case forum but tractor is dead in a bad place.




Tonight I was moving some firewood around with the tractor. Stopped, put it in idle, set the brake, lowered the loader and splitter, forgot to take it out of gear, jumped off and it died like it is supposed to. Jumped back on, put in neuteral, no start. PTO light is on, moved lever, same thing. Disconnected safety switch on lever, same thing. Shorted leads, same thing. I'm stumped. Any ideas? Thanks for any info you might have.

Check your gear shift lever.

If the PTO light is on, you have a shorted PTO switch. The problem is that this switch is normally open and when you engage the PTO, it goes closed. You should be able to disconnect the switch and it should start. If not, you have a short somewhere in the wiring that makes it think that the PTO is engaged.

I was gone most of the day today but disconnected the PTO switch and tried a different relay but still the same. Transmission is in neuteral. I need to try to get this thing pushed in the shop so I can take panels off and work on it with the wiring diagram.

Always a tough one.
I would check the sticky on the New Holland thread about the ignition switch issues. My DX33 fried two ignition switches that way honestly.

It was the number two fuse. I'll probably replace it with an auto reset breaker and do the relay upgrade later per the sticky.
