( You are right about Case not having the DX until about three years ago. Don't know why it takes Case so long to get the same models as New Holland. )

I don't know the facts as I have heard it both ways. But my understanding is New Holland purchased Case?? Again I don't know facts but either way it may be that when two companies merge it takes time to merge the products. You have to get rid of supplies in inventory and pre-purchases. Case more than likely continued the way they were and same with New Holland. It may take a few years to slow one assembly line down and I suppose another line to gear up. I was in Racine Wisconsin last fall working at a store and I looked across the street and there was a semi coming out of a manufacturing plant. Yes there was a red tractor on it and two blue tractors and they looked identical other than the paint. It was the Case New Holland Plant. Again the change could not happen overnight.

I think that is the plant where I believe management "locked out" the union workers when they couldn't agree on a contract in November 04. Think the strike lasted until February or March 05.

I once heard that in the beginning, the DX could not have some of the same features as the TC in order to placate the New Holland dealers.

Yes and still that way. Super Steer is not available on the Case's as of yet or at least lately.

If I remember correctly the EHSS transmission was not available as an option at first either.

Most CaseIH dealers are selling other brands of compacts. CaseIH backed out of the compacts twice in the last 20 years so most sell other brands. New Holland has been more consistent over that time period. That helps!

Now I'm confused about who makes which tractor. Are they all owned by the same company now? I just bought a Kubota 2230 at a dealer that used to be a new holland dealer. so now will all the tractors look the sameexcept for the colors?

Case and New Holland are the same except some minor differences. There is a few others out there the same. But Kubota is all by itself for what I know. John Deere is all by itself.

There is others out there all by itself. Your New Holland dealer more than likely dropped the line and picked up Kubota. That has no bearing on any take overs or mergers.

Challenger/CAT & Agco & Massey Ferguson=same

Deere is jinma drivetrain, has some upscale upgrades done by Deere, but still....

Kubota=kubota
