I have a 1945 Case Sc that when driven for a while starts to have antifreeze bubbling up from under the rad cap. Is this system a non pressurized system or is the coolant boiling at atmospheric pressure because the rad cap doesn't seal up perfectly.

Any other ideas on what would be causing this and how to fix it would be appreciated.

Also I checked the antifreeze to water ratio and it is 75% water and 25% antifreeze.

I checked the engine temperature with a infa-red heat gun and it is running at at about 200 degrees. Could there bee too much antifreeze in the radiator? A plugged over flow? The engine runs good and strong and doesn't seem to be afected by the coolant bubbling.

I have a Case VAC 1952,continental 4 cylinder engine. I think its the same as yours. My radiator cap is not pressurized. These motors run very cool unless you are doing some hard plowing or mowing for a sustained interval. Its been so long,I cannot remember if I am running a thermastat. You should not have boiling water in your radiator for normal operation. I would flush the cooling system and check your oil for any milky traces just to be sure.

There is no milky traces in the oil. I recently changed it and it looked good. I will flush the cooling system when I get a chance and replace the coolant with the right ratio of water and antifreeze. Thanks

Thanks. I'll take a look and see what I come across. I have a feeling that it is the anti freeze to water mixture.
