Castrol Super Clean Cleaner

I use Castrol Super Clean quite a lot for everything that has greese on it and needs to be cleaned off of it. What does everyone else use? I have tried Simple Green but I think the Castrol works much better. I was thinking a moment ago that i was getting low and soon needed more. That led me to wonder what everyone else use's. Just wondering .

For any ferrous parts I use either generic oven cleaner or Zep's Industrial Purple Cleaner. Both work quite well. Anything that has Sodium Hyroxide and/or Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether will work.

We have an industrial supply house here in town that carries it. I used it at the place that I worked at and now get it for home. We could not use any thing in our mill that would kill the little bugs in our settling pounds.

Just remember that this is a water base solvent, so if you use it on metal dipe it in desial fuel right away after cleaning so it dosn't start rusting.

I usually don't clean grease off, because if it's greasy it's supposed to be greasy. A bucket of diesel does a nice job without totally removing all rust protection. Aerosol brake cleaner will take anything down to the bare metal, as will acetone. For personal cleanup I use Goo Gone liquid or Lava soap.

Super Clean is great! I've been using it or something like it for the last 15 years. Just be careful if you have painted surfaces. You can use it, but you need to get it off within 5 minutes or it may dull the paint. I've used it to clean car/truck engines and often use it on my tractor and/or mowers. It will dissolve soot very well. Autozone sells a "purple cleaner" as do many other retailers. These seem to be just as effective as the Super Clean, and from the smell, they are a very similar product.

My father used to have a shop that he rented to mechanics. They would often close the garage doors except for the last 1' to block out the west sun. Of course the cars exhausts completely stained the doors and turned them black on the inside of the aluminum rollup sections. I used every household cleaner I could find and then found Super Clean in 1995. I sprayed it on the soot and it just dissolved away. One wipe with a wet sponge and the doors were good as new. That made me a believer. For tough stains or heavy grease, I always use it straight. However for light stains and average cleaning I mix it in a spray bottle at 1 part to 3 parts water.

Super Clean is great for removing bathtub and shower scum off of tiles. Spray it on, wait 30 seconds, brush lightly or use a wet cloth. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Don't leave it sitting on chrome faucets for very long though. It will sure spot them. Your other problem is you will want good ventilation. If you inhale the vapors, it will make your head spin.

I've used Castrol's Super Clean at least as long as Jinman. There was a time where obtaining it was more difficult as it wasn't available in gallons, only in 2 1/2 gallon jugs or larger.

Then someone told me it's available at WalMart. I haven't looked yet since I'm still using the last big jug I bought.
