Cat barfs way too much--any cures besides a .22?

2 or 4 times a week he barfs. Been going on for years, but more as he gets older. He's been an indoor cat since he spent a couple days & nights in a tree thanks to a coyote. Wife said he was one of the best cats we've had & she didn't want to lose another to the coyotes, so she has been cleaning out the sandbox for maybe 12-13 years now. He shows no signs of being about to croak & had a physical a couple months ago. But we are looking at getting a new carpet (partially due to cat barf stains) and we don't want to do that and have it stained soon after.

So, any cat barfing cures?

If there is FUR in the barf, a little Vaseline on cat's paws will ease its way through.

Aging cats tend to upchuck more than young cats. It may be stomach problems.

I'm all in for the .22 idea ! I saw a good cat once...he was FLAT ! Sorry, I don't like any indoor animals, just me ! I am happily pet free. We travel a lot on spur of the moment & I don't need or want to be concerned about "Fluffy "

Might try an ounce of Ginger Ale if the cat will drink it. Works good for upset stomachs.
May need to change the diet too.

We have this problem with my daughter's cat. Never thought I would find possible solutions on a tractor forum. Trust me when I say the .22LR solution has crossed my mind a few times as I'm cleaning up. The only thing that saves the cat is that it would devastate my daughter to lose her "baby". That trumps my desire to teach the cat how to play with the coyotes.

I have a cat who's nearing 5 his name is Garfield. Had him since birth. I love him very much but he does get to be a pain sometimes. lol

One good thing though is he's trained to go outside to use the bathroom so no litter box needed. He won't even go near a litter box anymore. He'll hold it until he gets to go outside.

He learned to do that when he was staying with my parents and would go outside along with their 2 dogs when my mom would walk them outside to potty.

One of my neighbors is a huge cat lover and he goes over to her house sometimes. I think he's over there right now.

She says she enjoys having him over. And she feeds him too.

So at least if I need to travel somewhere I know who'll take care of him.

As much as I love cats and other animals I don't want anymore though after Garfield passes on.

I'll surely miss him but just don't want to take anymore in. I'll just give my love to the neighbors cats and strays.

My cats will throw up krunchies and some of the soft catfoods. Try changing the cat food. - does your cat need to be wormed?

Forgot to mention there is very little fur in the barf. Sometimes he barfs a lot of liquid, sometimes it's mostly food he ate 20 minutes ago.

He had a checkup recently when he got shots updated but we forgot to ask about the barfing.

My wife heard about the Vaseline & puts a gob on her fingertip & he loves licking it off.

Except for the barfing he's been a pretty good cat and is a great mouser. When he was a kitten we heard him meowing as we walked down the highway. We investigated, didn't pick him up, but he followed us home for a mile; all the while my wife was saying she didn't want another cat. I kinda wanted to keep him. Foolishly we gave him leftover food from a previous cat and he hung around for 2 weeks and as I decided maybe we didn't want him, the wife decided maybe she did. So we kept him. Got him shots, etc. & the vet said he would be groggy for a day or 2.

Before going to work I would notice he would come out from under the pickup to meet me. He didn't show the morning after his shots. I slapped the hood in case he was under there & no response. About noon, I got a call from the wife asking if I had seen the cat. No, but let me check the pickup. Sure enough, there he was on top of a tire and groggy. There was a flat area behind the battery & I figure he had slept there for a 15 mile country road drive @ 60 mph to the first stop sign, 12 miles up the freeway plus a few miles on city streets. Lucky he didn't get caught by the fan belt.

They make some of the dry cat food in formulas for indoor cats to help with fur balls. It usually says it right on the bag. We use Purina One for our cat and that has really cut down on it. The problem is they don't get enough roughage inside to help them digest. Cat grass may help too.
