If you love your cats, put up with it.

That's about all you can do, used to have barn cats, heeler decided he didn't like cats, mice traps took there place.

I don't know your arrangement, but you might be able to do something like this so the cats can still shelter in the garage but are kept away from the cars.

I think you have two options open to you.....Either get rid of the cats or get rid of the car. As long as you have cats you will have kitty prints on the car. Get rid of the car and no more kitty prints on it.

Exactly. All cats love to walk around on smooth surfaces like glass, hoods, plastic seats etc. If I forget to turn up my seat on the B26 which is most of the time, my neighbors cat walks all over it and the hood. I cant say too much about the hood as it is mostly dirty all the time but I hate the muddy paw prints on my seat that I have to brush off before sitting.
I am a little bit like /pine when it comes to cats but not to the extreme that I would start shooting them on sight. Maybe they are doing something about rats as I haven't seen any around my shop where the cat hangs out at night but I do have some invading my garage when I store an extra sack of dry dog food. This seems to happen about twice a year till I glue trap the buggers out then nothing for months. The sneaky little rascals like to run inside when the door is opened also and then steal food from the dogs tray and hide it behind the refrigerator. Still not worth it to me to have a cat though as the glue traps eventually get them.

Young cats prefer to be in high places looking down on things. If you make them a comfortable place up high that they can "nest" they will leave your car alone. As the cats get older they are less energetic, but still prefer high places, mostly not on a cold floor.

Your only option is to put a cover over the car when it's parked. They'll still walk on the cover, but at least you won't have the paw prints. You can actually by a device at a pet store that is a motion activated compressed air canister. It's called SSScat I think. But you'd have to put a whole lot of them all over the car. Maybe, if you were lucky one SSScat would just make them hate the car and stay away from it.

This is a good answer. As long as they have a easily reached and comfortable shelf "high up" They will pretty much stay off of the vehicles. They want high up for several reasons, but the biggest, is they feel more comfortable resting up away from predators. They have no problem "slobbing out" on your living room floor, but they feel very safe there. They probably feel less safe in the garage, because you are not in it with them, and you are just one of the "big cats" in their little pride of lions. Young cats are a little less predictable (as are young people:) ). But for the most part, they want to feel safe and they want to see out, for anything that might be coming to attack them.
