I tried searching by the name ripcords.com but I didn't get anything about catapaults. What is the complete address of the site you mentioned? If you go to it, you can copy the url and then paste it in a reply post here on TBN. This next is just an example. If the url is http://www.ripcords.com, then to post it as a link, you would type - ["url=http://ripcords.com"]Ripcords, but you would not include the quote marks. Just make sure that you use the brackets [ ]. You'll also find the instructions in the FAQ section at the top of the page.

['url=http://www.ripcord.ws/]

You're almost there! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif You forgot to at the end with the name of the url in the middle between the brackets. Like this - ['url=http://www.ripcord.ws/] Ripcord . again, do not include the quote marks, and there should be no spaces between anything.

So THATs how they did it (catapults). I wondered how they got all those pianos, sports equipment and musical instruments to fall from the sky in the new TV advertisements for XM Radio! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

2 summers ago, our Scout troop (mostly aged 12-14 at that time) had great fun assembling and operating a trebuchet for a summer camp contest. All the others were bungi cord - slingshot type ... except ours, because the leaders had seen the PBS NOVA show. Using real forest found wood (not lumber), lashings and a concrete block counterweight (from the fire ring), they EASILY placed first in the longest shot and most original design categories and just missed the most accurate. By the way, the ammo was a wet kitchen sponge.

Afterwards, the kids hauled their machine up to the assembly field and proceeded see how far it could throw a padded (with duct tape) 2 lb. rock. Too far, as it happened. The third shot travelled the 125 yard width of the field and into the woods, uncomfortably close to another troop's site. I had the kids switch to a less lethal ammo - a roll of taped APP (toilet paper). That worked fine with less distance and a lot less mass. Called it quits at dark when they couldn't locate the roll of APP.

Very educational and fun for all. I'd highly recommend it.
