Cataract surgery and Light Adjustable Lens

I had a phone conversation with the surgeon’s office a couple days ago, they WILL NOT touch me w/o a Dr’s consent..
I’m taking my BP meds as scheduled and checking the pressure 3x a day..
It’s all over the place.. I just hope they get it figured out soon.. it avg’s 160/97..
Just for kicks, I took an extra pill a few hours after the daily dose.. it brought my BP down to 114/77..!!!
It didn’t last long tho..probably about 2-3 hours..
I was doing some heavy lifting today and couldn’t catch my breath.. I was a little concerned so I checked my BP..220/115.!!!
Luckily it came down within 5 minutes.. to my “normal” readings of 160’s/90’s..

I’m glad yours went well CTC..
I am SOOO looking forward to it..
I'm glad your under a Dr.'s care, high BP is nothing to mess with. It might take some medication adjustments to resolve yours, be patience.

Maybe 2-3 procedures canceled each week due to blood pressure and about 1-2 due to eating or drinking prior to scheduled surgery.

Recently had a patient with very high blood pressure with no history. The car taking him to surgery was in a wreck and Uber rushed him in.

He said my heart is fine and after a huddle the Docs said he was suppose to be patient 3 of 18 the option was given to make him last if his BP corrected and it did.

Sometimes the stress of pending surgery combined with events take a toll.

Totally believe it. I had cataract surgery last year, and my BP was way higher than usual the morning of, even though I don’t have hypertension. Just the nerves alone can spike it. Through Pharmacy B2B connections, I’ve learned how common that is. Add a car accident, and it’s no wonder. Glad the team was flexible and kept patient safety first.

Are you salt intolerant? With some folks, salt can make their blood pressure rise.

I've been meaning to update this thread. My left eye vision is not as good as my right eye. Last week my eye doctor put a "Procura" patch on my left eye which is supposed to help repair some small imperfections on my cornea. I had to wear a patch for 4 days to keep that eye closed.

From what I understand the Procura is a piece of placenta that has stem cells which helps to regrow and repair the damaged areas.

I can't really tell if it made a difference yet. I have not done the eye test since it was removed.

I still have a good bit of 'starburst' around all lights at night. My doctor keeps telling me that will improve over time. My next appointment is in January.

Overall, I am still very happy with the results. The only glasses I wear now are sunglasses.

I haven’t updated in awhile myself..
Last u heard from me was I was set to go into surgery but they cancelled it due to extreme blood pressure.!!
Well, I’m still having problems.. I had a colonoscopy scheduled for last week and it ALMOST DIDNT HAPPEN, for the SAME REASON.!! 200.!!
They gave me a shot of something and got it down to 171 and said I squeaked by, and took me back..
I’m sure glad they did because I doubt seriously that I would have done that “cleanse” AGAIN.!!!
My BP is down to normal in the afternoon but for 5 hrs in the morning (9:00am-2:00pm) it’s in the hi 180’s.!!
So to wrap this up, until I get my surgery, I’m still fighting my BP..!!

Glad you are making progress on your surgery. Hope that keeps getting better.

200 is on up there. When I had my Heart attack mine was at 210/something I forget what. Nothing to play around with. Hope you can win the battle of the BP wars...

BP cancels cases every week…

Some have white coat anxiety…

We had a patient cancelled for a 1 pm procedure and BP too high.

We rescheduled a week out and for 7 am… he was very sleepy not accustomed to leaving the house so early and his BP was significantly lower…
