Rotary Cutter category 1 to category 2

When I typed "quick hitch" in my earlier post, I see that it reproduces on TBN as hyper text, linked to Pat's Easy Change quick hitch system. Not sure why TBN does that, because it's not what I mean to reference at all. I'm referring to the one-piece quick hitches, e.g. Speedco, JD, Woods, etc. and the Harbor Freight and Northern Equipment versions.

Ahh, just discovered why the hyper link: Pat's is sold in the TBN online store. Nothing against Pat's, but it is a bit presumptious, IMO, for TBN to link when it changes the intent and meaning of posts. :rolleyes:

I imagine having the link is part of the advertising agreement. I wonder what link would show up if other quick hitch manufacturers advertised on TBN. TBN's advertising seems less disruptive than other free sites I visit. Some are so bad I give up.

Re: category 2 to category 1 pins, here is a photo of my Meteor snowblower with such pins mounted facing inwards as others noted:

not direct help for ya. everyone has already noted what i was going to say.

Object moved for parts suppliers
AllisChalmers Forum like TBN but dedicated to allis chalmers, might help ya find something specific with tractor
Object moved click "view books" beside guest account, type in WD45, then select "agco allis" and you should find online parts manual.

===================
WD45 has the old "snap coupler" setup and not a 3pt hitch, so going to assume you have a third party/after market snap coupler to 3pt hitch conversion setup on your tractor. possibly a random weld job to get a 3pt hitch setup.

there is a good amount of 3pt hitch stuff converted to snap coupler

=================
get a "over running clutch" fits between pto shaft on rear of tractor, and PTO shaft going to implement. it allows the PTO shaft/implement to keep on spinning, even when you push in foot clutch or use the hand clutch.

double check shear bolt is actually a shear bolt (specific grade of bolt and diameter), or set the "slip clutch" most likely mounted directly before the gear box going down to the mower deck.

double check you have correct length of PTO shaft, either to long and can bind up PTO shaft and get yourself in a lot of trouble. or 2 short, and going over bumps / ditches or like and shaft coming apart.

Tractor Attachments And Skid Steer Attachments For Any Tractor Or Skid Steer has some videos and descent amount of text, in how to properly setup/adjust slip clutches and/or modify PTO shafts to see if you have correct length.

In my case, the lower hitch mounting holes are bored for 1-1/8" (Cat 2). Category 1 pins (7/8") are sloppy loose in the mounting holes. I had hoped to find a cat 1 to cat 2 conversion pin. If one is made, I would like to hear of it.

You should be able to get cat 1 pins with 1 1/8 threads, if you have trouble finding them just use a bushing the thickness of the mounting tab to reduce from 1 1/8 to 7/8.

Ha, ha! Now I remember some of the quirks of that old tractor. The foot clutch on mine was bunged up so the hand clutch had to be used every time one wanted to disengage the engine. Can't say I miss it.

You must have had a WD-45 in the past to recall those "special" features!

When the A-C was replaced with an L3650 the shock was, well, shocking. "So THIS is what a modern tractor is like!" Woo-Hoo! :thumbsup:
Yep, had a WD 45 and later a D 17 and One Ninety XT Allis Chalmers. WD 45 was a tricycle front end and was always hard to crank just like the D17. I didn't miss either of those when they were traded in. I hated the old snap coupler rear hitches with the adapter lift arms. Some of our equipment was AC design and used the snap coupler rear hitch but most of what we had was the 3 PH style so every time I needed to hook up to something using the standard 3 PH, I had to dig out the adapter and hook it up. It was heavy and awkward to hook into the belly snap connection, then try to pick everything up to fit into the snap coupling on the lift arms was a bear.
The XT was a nice tractor though with standard 3 PH and telescoping lift arms plus double the HP of any of the other tractors we had before. Mostly it was driven by my Dad and I drove one of the other tractors. Then we got a 9000 Ford and I laid claim to it and let Dad keep his One Ninety XT. That 9000 was a war horse. At the time, it was largest row crop tractor made @130 HP with wide set dual rears, it would pull **** off the cross as my Dad used to say.
