Little off track, but should I be worried about the chipmunks that like to hide/run to my truck (and eye me while sitting on top of a tire)? Will they chew up wiring harnesses?
I have? a cat that's been sticking around so I feed him. Hope he's still here come summer and chipmunk time.

Yes, it was a garter snake. My cat spends 95% of his time in the house. He's never caught a bird that I know of, just mice, ground moles, and chipmunks. Although he did get a bunny once.that must have been seriously funny, probably a little garter snake
but most of us don't know one snake well enough from another, and
just about all of us don't want them in our house for sure.
Alright pine, did a cat steal your girlfriend in h.s.?![]()
Nothing like that...I actually had a cat for for 19 years that I dug out of a wall (the rest of the litter died of distemper)...cats are great pets...but they are also non-native to America and that makes a big difference...no different than the problems with the pythons etc. in the everglades (where you can no longer find most native mammals)
Cats are an issue that does not get recognized because "animal lovers" rarely see the damage to native wildlife they inflict...
IMO, cats should be no different than any other species of pet/animals that are considered HARMFUL species to native environments...
I kinda had a similar situation. There was a stray female hanging around here. She had a litter of 4 kittens. The mother was extremely friendly, but the kittens were completely wild. So got rid of them.Nothing like that...I actually had a cat for for 19 years that I dug out of a wall (the rest of the litter died of distemper)...cats are great pets...but they are also non-native to America and that makes a big difference...no different than the problems with the pythons etc. in the everglades (where you can no longer find most native mammals)

I don't have cats. My bulldog won't allow it.
