Im not into cattle or anythig, but at $71/lb id sell the whole heard at that price and then buy those feeder calves and raise them!!!

Sounds good, until you see the price of feeder cattle and feed. :D

Cant let them eat the grass in the pasture and then feed round bales in the winter? Like i said not into cattle, so are these like grain feeders for high dollar beef?

You kinda got punked there clem, go back and read Kensweets post again, jlsimth moved the decimal point on you and me. Had me going for a minute I almost got into the cattle business myself.

Whoops, I missed that. What he meant was $71/cwt, or $71 per hundred weight. Yes, at $71/pound a person could do quite well. :D

OP< My Dad has 130 acres in Western TN. He ran cattle himself until he got to old to fool with them. Today he leases the land to a fellow who is doing the same thing my Dad used to do. Dad is much happier not having to fool with them.

He only ran 50 head and would make a point to count them everyday, sometimes more than once if it was calf season. They were constantly needing shots or some such.

Anyway, said all that to say this...leasing your land is the way to go. Good luck!
