Bill If you got the yellow colored 3/8 surgical tubing you just slip the bottom of the tubing over the drain fitting and stretch the remaing over the fitting. I had no problem as this stuff is very stretchable. If you need to you can fold the tubing back over itself to get a liitle more to work with. Reid

Yes, I bought the yellow surgical tubing. I'll remember that on my next oil change! It looks like you could bend it like a pretzel and it won't kink. I tried stretching it a little but gave up and went with the clear tubing (1/2") that CC provided. it has a allot to be desired /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Thanks for the tip! I sure try it!

Hay one related question on the 2544 oil change "experience"... some how... under somewhat dark conditions I managed to get the drain valve opened and the oil out. I'm now trying to close the valve which the manual says needs to be pushed in (did that and hear it click) then turn clockwise 1/4 turn. I can't get mine to turn clockwise.

Any trick to that?

As long as the stop pins (not sure what to call'em?!?) on the plastic body are seated in the bottom part of the "L" shaped knotch & she doesn't leak with the cap off, you are good to go! Isn't that drain valve a lovely pc of hardware? !@#$%

HAVEN'T HAD SUCH A GOOD LAUGH IN A WHILE. I HAVEN'T USED MY HOSE IN A WHILE, MY CUB CADET SUPPLIED DRAIN HOSE THAT IS, ON THE NEW AND IMPROVED PATENTED ULTRA SPECIAL MTD OIL DRAIN FIASCO. I HAD ONE OF THIS '07 GT2554'S THAT HAD THE BROKEN HOOD MOUNTS. MY DEALER IS EXTRA KEWL. TOOK A NEW ONE OFF OF A TRACTOR IN THE CRATE, I HAD 5 HRS. ON HER, AND HE GAVE ME A FREE OIL AND FILTER CHANGE. I OBSERVED. HE HAS SOME SORT OF AIR CHARGED SUCTION DEVICE THAT SUCKS THE OIL FROM THE ENGINE. AFTER READING ALL OF THE ABOVE NOT SURE IF 1, BUY A AIR CHARGED SUCKING DEVICE, OR LET THE DEALER SUCK IT OUT WITH IS AND I'LL BUY. LMAO

Hey, I am new to this forum and on my second cub. I had an lt1024 that I blew the trans in and I bought a new gt2550. I too, discovered this oil changing issue; my dealer is looking into it for me.
What I noticed is after looking at the parts list for the gt2550, cc has a straight pipe with a 90 degree fitting on the end and the plastic piece of ... attached to the elbow. So it appears to me that cc knows the issues, and has a solution, but it is not being updated on equipment at the dealer side or (even worse) at the factory. All of the parts lists that I have downloaded have this "new" diagram.

Just thought I would through my two cents in, or is it a quarter now for inflation.

kt, it's up to a dollar now. I've yet to change my own oil. It has 41 hours on it, I purchased my 2554 in July, I think. Dealer dropped the first batch of oil when I brought it in at 10 hrs. For the life of me can't remember what I brought in in for. OH yeah, nipple was leaking at block, wasn't tightened enough from factory. While there, had him drop the 10 hr. oil, he used the infamous air charged suction device. Will do my own maintenance, but looks like it could be a real chore. But, if you've ever changed the oil filter on a Ford Escort, it couldn't possibly be any worse that that. Another "Better Idea"! Yeah, right.

Wow oldie post here! Yup, some time back I scrapped the Kohler/CC drain fitting and made up my own pipe nipple and elbow drain with an old but unused brass John Deere oil drain valve. Basically you have to remove the motor mount bolts to gain enough height to remove and reinstall anything. Just make sure you drop the engine back down in the same spot so you don't knock the engine-trans shaft alignment off.

I bought a manual oil vac system and it seems to work well. My dealer has not gotten an answer for CC yet. The dealer uses a vac system as well, so the dealers don稚 even see the problem. I just found it odd that the manual has one configuration and the product has something different. It is something that you don't realize until you actually do the first oil change and it is frustrating to know that CC knows the issue but continues to let the problem happen.

Thats my dollars worth, I can't spend anymore because I need the rest for gas.
