I will agree that the 2500 deck drive setup is a reliable and easily serviced, my only point on the 3000's was that since the belts that run the pto are short and have no twists (I assume) that they may need less frequent replacement (at the expense of maybe being more difficult to replace--I have no idea because dealers around here don't stock 3000's).
on the 3000 series both easy to replace and they last a long time -
