Thanks for clearing that up. That's what I thought concerning the 3000's, but I didn't realize the question pertained to only 2500's. I will agree that the 2500 deck drive setup is a reliable and easily serviced, my only point on the 3000's was that since the belts that run the pto are short and have no twists (I assume) that they may need less frequent replacement (at the expense of maybe being more difficult to replace--I have no idea because dealers around here don't stock 3000's).

on the 3000 series both easy to replace and they last a long time -

No complaint, but I think most of you have gotten a lot better PTO belt life than I have. The first PTO belt on my 2554 lasted 42 hours. Cub replaced it under warranty with no BS. Try gettting JD to do that.

It's a problem with these mowers with high HP engines and large decks IMO. If you consistantly load up the deck in tall wet grass the belt gets a lot of abuse while barely loading the engine. The big Kohlers are strong.

Still much better than the JD's for about the same $$ They have PTO and drive belts and a verticle shaft engine. Ugh...
