I'm am far from a proponent of piracy.

I do have a hard time seeing honesty, integrity, and respect related to charging $100 for digital copies of information which must be produced in order to support a product anyway.

If a company allows it's greed to be the primary factor in determining pricing, it's customers will find another source for it's product.

OK, I do not knowingly support piracy.

I wanted a copy of the service manual, but never needed it enough to shell out $100. So, whenever I had an issue, I looked at the exploded diagrams on JDParts and usually figured out what was going on right there.

Sometimes I had an uissue that I really needed the service manual, and another tbn'er would send me a page that applied from their manual. Very nice of them! I asked more than one who had purchased theirs on eBay if it was real. They thought so.

The vendor I bought from also sells JD parts. For all I know they are a dealer. Deere has suggested reatail pricing, but dealers set the pricing, so it is possible that there is one who is happy selling tech manuals for $17.95 delivered. From this thread alone there seems to be a wild difference in the pricing. One paid $75 for one manual, another $100 for two... Someone else paid $100 for one.

I will do what I can to get the whole story. I doubt that I can, and suggest that folks buy the real thing from their dealer.

Before moaning too much about the price, check around. Try and buy a service manual for another brand for $100. My buddy was thrilled to buy a used Kubota manual for $110.

My comment has nothing to do with anyone's pricing. It was aimed at the derogatory comments made toward dmp437 (since deleted) about him taking an honest stand. This country is a better place because of people like him.

I went ahead and ordered the CD through my dealer. I think it was $65. They also had it in print for about $120. Thanks for the info.

I bought my CD manual off of eBay last Fall for $20. If this was an illegal sell I didn't know it then and am not convinced that it was now. Just thought it was a great price. It's worth $100 IMO if you are the type to work on your tractor yourself which I would bet most TBNers are.
