Cell phone repeater

instead of having such a long run on the output can you mount the repeater nearer the tower? maybe some sort of weather proof cabinet? I assume the repeater has a recieve antenna- can you extend it, to get closer to the area you will be? Does the repeater list how far it will recieve the signal?
just some thoughts?

The cable length restriction is on the "receive" antenna. The unit tself is an indoor unit with a 1/2 wave dipole antenna directly attached to it. The claim is for coverage of 1000 to 2500 sq.ft. so it has to be in the area of cell phone use. I did a search and could not find a true bidirectional amplifier for the feed cable.

I had hoped to avoid having a 50' antenna mast at the house because of wifely sensibilities. We get our TV off-the-air - cable not available and satellite too expensive for our type of TV viewing. I have a selling job to do and maybe solve both problems.
