Cell phones.......Your experiences please

Trescrows, the people at two separate Verizon stores assured me that the only difference between Kyocera and Motorola phones is features and tone quality, they both have identical performance otherwise.

I too looked at the Verizone coverage map before changing from AT& T, and find it to be erroneous. Specifically, there is a 150 stretch of highway on US 287 between Amarillo and Wichita Falls TX where I found that making any kind of call on the Verizon phones was impossible. Whenever I would get a signal I would dial the number, and *zap*, the signal would be gone again. Could not make one single call from this area, perhaps if I pulled over I could have. We have driven this same route for many years, on our way to Colorado for our annual ski vacation, and never had any problem with AT & T here. The Verizon coverage map shows this to be fully covered. I guess that guy that says "Can you hear me now" has not been to that stretch of highway.

One thing I can say about my Kyocera phone. I dropped it today on a concrete parking lot. It bounced a few times, but nothing was broken and it still works. So I guess they are pretty tough.

One crappy thing about these phones is that when the battery runs down you have to charge them for quite a while before you can make a call, even plugged into the cigarette lighter in the car. My wife always talks until the battery runs out. With the old Nokia phone, she would just plug it into the lighter and continue the call. With the Kyocera, it WON'T work after the battery runs out, even when plugged in. That sucks. So that is definitely a problem with the phone.

Those phones with color screens and video cameras built in are overkill to me. I just want the phone to take calls and make calls reliably.
