Cell Tower Lease

Your reasoning is fouled up...no offence.
We were not against cell service. We were against 200+ ft tall towers with lights.
So they have to install more shorter towers.
We got along fine before?!?

With respect, I don't think so. I'll try to make it more clear for you, though.

Towers cost money to build and maintain. Every additional tower costs that much more money to build and maintain. Wireless companies are not charities. When the cost to operate increases threefold because they need to put up three short towers instead of one tall tower, either the cost of the service increases or they just don't build them. Either way regular people living around you get the short end of the stick, through higher prices or just not getting service at all.

And I disagree that people are getting along fine. They want to be able to pay for internet access just the same as you. If they were getting along fine then rural internet access wouldn't be a top priority of many of the rural county governments around here, including yours.

In 1965 tobacco was considered safe, as well as DDT, agent orange, etc.
So you trust the radiation statistics? Really?

Tobacco was considered safe right up until people started studying the health effects and found strong evidence that it was harming people. Microwave radiation at these levels is still considered safe because people have studied it over and over and have found no good evidence that it is harming people. We also understand the mechanisms by which different kinds of radiation can damage tissues and at what energy levels.

If you are really worried about radiation then you should be much more concerned with ionizing environmental radiation like UV exposure from being outside during the day, or radon in your house, or gamma ray exposure from flying on an airplane. All have been well studied and shown to cause actual harm to tissue. Just wearing sunblock regularly will do a great deal more to help your health than worrying about cell towers.

But besides all that, you should consider that cell phones transmit at higher power the farther away from the tower they are. Having a cell tower close by means that your phone and those around you will emit much less radiation than if the tower is farther away.

5G is more closer, shorter towers.

Check archives this was discussed a few months ago. One was going to be installed 1/4m in front of our porch...a 200ft one with flashing light. We fought towers and won. They can be smaller, camouflaged, put on existing structures, etc.
A lot of property owners get excited about the $1500/month income (or whatever offer is) without thinking it through. They have access to your property 24/7, can be bad for neighbors, radiation, etc.

If someone offered me $1500 a month to put a tower on my property, I would be signing so fast it would make your head spin. And since I am an amateur radio operator, I sure am not worried about "radiation". While there may be several transmitters on at the same time on the tower, each transmitter runs a very small amount of power. Nothing like I am doing down here closer to the ground. or the 100 watts I run out of my Silverado. By the way if you are worried about the radiation from a cell tower, then you never ever want to talk on a handheld cell phone again. Because the level of RF energy could easily be 1000 or more times greater from the handheld than you would ever get from a cell tower. And don't forget the higher the tower the safer it would be because of distance from you. While the towers have a few degrees of downtilt, the majority of the energy is aimed more or less at the horizon.

How do you like the 891??

So that explains why my father in law ham operator lived to be 90, all neighbors got the big C...(seriously!).
There are better, easier ways to make money than a tower on your property.
All I'm saying is it's much better to think things through, all of the ramifications, nuisances, liabilities, the "what ifs" to consider before one spins his/her head off signing documents.

Maybe hams become immune.

I LOVE towers, just wouldn't want to have to look at one where I expect to see natural beauty.

BELL put up a tower a few miles away. I can just see the tip of it. The first night, the White Strobe was lighting up my bedroom wall. A call to my building department, fixed that in a hurry. Now RED at night. I use it (White or Red) to judge visibility conditions.

Surprised though. I never get many bars on my phone!

How does it get easier than renting a small area of your property for $1500 a month. Please enlighten us about any easier legal means to get an extra 1500 a month.

Well, it would certainly be a whole lot nicer if you owned the property, just didn't have to live there. NIMBYism! We have had this place since 66, so we are kind of attached to it and the countryside. Some people just don't care about stuff like that, move around a lot, or heck, build a house within sight of a highway even! lol

Such as? I agree that its best to think through all the ramifications (including a clause that they are required to post a bond to cover removal if they walk away from the tower), but as has been said, how else will you get that much money (legally) with such a small impact on your property?

Exactly.
