Any video clip capability?

Have not seen any option for video or pic. For $15/mth u get cellular connection with monitoring. For $24/mth you get cellular connection, monitoring, txt messages and remote abilities to turn on/off and check sensors.

If any of the services had video clip output or even a few stills that would be the bomb.

Wondering if anyone has a security system that is cellular only and what options exist?

I've found Simplysafe but can't tell if they're any good or if there are better options.

I realize being rural, sherif response time will not be immediate but given I'm not living there full time it will at least notify me if there is a problem and possibly drive them away faster

TIA!
ADT has one that is cellular.. MIL had one and it worked pretty good.

Ordered a simplisafe refurbished system at 25% off plus a 10% coupon. Asked them about video and she said engineers have it in beta testing now and expect it to release soon.

I have seen a number of their commercials recently

We have on at our rural propoerty in E. TN. Last time there the wife was cooking bacon and forgot to turn on the range hood exhaust fan. She set off the smoke detector and simplisafe called us immediately, three seconds after it started going off. We have the verizon module after the original lost connectivity once for a couple of weeks. They were quick to send out the replacement. No wires to cut for the bad guys. Can check status or change it any time via app. Very happy customer. Easy to upgrade if I want to add sensors. Battery backup. I get instant text and email messages of any power outages or anything else. 24 hour monitoring, and no contract. I have no affiliation with the company, just a very satisfied customer.

Installed it this weekend. Really easy and works great. Keypad didn't work at first so I called them and they updated the code and worked instantly.

Nice being able to check the temp and make sure it's on from anywhere.

I once designed a system using Motorola radios to protect a remote site without phone or power.

Being in this business for decades, it drives me nuts. All this talk about back up communication. What they never talk about is the the Police could hardly care less about burglaries.

And all these camera Aps to watch your place. How often are you going to watch your living room remotely? GREAT technology, but has nothing to do with security.

A LOT of HIGH power LOUD sirens are your first line of defence. But cost me time and money to install and compete with my monitoring revenue. The ONLY thing that really matters in this industry!

The Internet is going to turn the security system on it's ear. Many jurisdictions require police registration for monitored security system. Just an extra TAX for a job the Police aren't doing! So, the old lady across the road can call the Police if your place is being Robbed without being registered but not the monitoring company. So, what happens if you have a cell phone Ap that alerts you when your alarm has gone off, and YOU call the cops?

Probably the only reason Monitoring Stations still exist is that you get a 10% discount on your insurance if you have monitoring. The same 10% you get if you say you have fire extinguishes, or (before they were manditory) smoke detectors.

Around here they do.. I was house and dog sitting my MILs place once while she was in the hospital. She set up a guest code for me to use, but somehow it expired or something about 10days in. I went to enter the code, got an alert that it wasnt correct, and by the time I could try for the 3rd time it went off. About 5 sec later the phone rings and ADT is there asking what I am doing. After explaining what happened, and who I was, I get transferred to another lady who proceeds to tell me how to disable the alarm that is still blaring.. So, I find a screw driver and start to get to work when there is a loud knock/banging at the door.. Here I am, not in my own home, alarm blaring, phone to ear, screw driver in my mouth, alarm panel open and wires and battery from it in my hands as Sheriffs are threatening to break down the door

This all happened in less than 3 mins or so and we are rural..

And, I didn't go to jail, but just about needed to clean by pants when I finally opened the door and they saw what I was doing.. Thank God I had ADT on the phone...

I'm not trying to invalidate your point, but the answer is "at least three times per day when I'm on vacation". I feel better knowing there is no one inside my home, in addition to whether or not there is activity in the yard. So I check when I get up, at least once during the day, and before bed at night.
