Someone else could probably word this much better than I so please don't pass judgment on the written but the meaning.

In modern society there are may points of view and levels of morality. I had a post recently deleted because it was viewed as inappropriate for this forum. I see this forum as a community, like any other community. I therefore believe that what is viewed as inappropriate to some is not to others. I do not for one minute believe in open slather on all topics as the majority would not want that and nor do I. I understand that the censorship is the domain of the moderators and I will always respect that. However, it would be good if there was a topic area that was established with not so strict censoring. I don't see how this can offend anyone as it is your choice to enter each topic.
It is far from my intent to see this as a sleaze forum but only to move the goal posts a little.

Thank you,
vin dowd

See this discussion.

Morning Vin,

I think the goal posts are just fine where they are.

My reasoning is they seem to represent the desired limits of the majority of the members.

The good thing about the internet is we can find a forum for every interest we have.

Our love for tractors is an amazing thing. The topics that divide us like religion or politics can be overcome by our love for our equipment.

Especially when you consider that just about every faith available except maybe for the strictest Amish ones appreciate tractors. So we have a little heaven here on earth all of us can agree on no matter where we suspect others will spend an afterlife if we even believe in one.

When you consider all the people who've lost their life for being on one side or the other of a religious conflict and we have harmony.......over tractors.

That says horsepower is more than just pushing and pulling.

I'm with Bill on this one. There are many forums for different topics out there. This one is for tractor and related topics.

The issue I raise I stress does not have to do with religion or politics. Taboo with them. I am merely referring to some very light humour that was censored. At this point I will stress that I understand that the moderators have a job and with that guide lines. I am simply asking for those guide lines to be moved a little to keep in line with contemporary thinking. What was deleted was by no means offensive and with out any doubt I see daily far worse on TV in the middle of the day here and I would think it to be no different there.

VIN,
I really didn't understand it when the same picture got deleted last time. But.........it was explained to me in a manner I understood, that this is a "family friendly" site. That picture MAY be offensive to someone, not a member, who might stumble across it. There are numerous visitors here daily, never know when one of them is 8 years old and starts asking questions of his parents.

I actually read on another site last night that TBN is one of the highest rated "family friendly" sites on the net. For the life of me, I can't find it today /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

And I think it's Muhammad's right to keep it that way

Vin,

I am an extremely liberal "social liberal," so I appreciate your post. However, the majority culture at TBN is clearly socially conservative and I respect that (the fact of the conservativeness) with no reservations.

The important thing to note is that because TBN is an open forum, there are structural minority protections in place (eg, the freedom for you to start this thread) that allow for minorities to do a little cage rattling every now and then, which at least permits the possibility of change (slow and incremental though it may be).

So, good on ya for posting this thread, and good on ya for calmly accepting that the majority culture will likely reject your suggestion.

Our decision to not allow pictures of cats in bikinis came a long time ago (as that photo has been posted and removed before), when we didn't want one thing to lead to another ...

Firstly, I love this site, and understand/don't mind the limitations, etc. However, I have to question how the "Related Links" are generated at the top of the page. We're talking about limiting talk of politics, religion, etc., but at the top of this thread it has links regarding "sexy Jewish singles" and "papers on the afterlife" /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Seems to contradict what we're talking about right now. My only fear is that with such a clean site, which I appreciate, that something is going to slip into those "Related Links". Just something worth looking at.

Henny,

My links look like the attachment.
Maybe something else is going on at your end. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
