I wanted to close the loop on this thread and pass on any wisdom I may have picked up along the way. First, huge kudos to Reg whose info and encouragement helped me solve my problem. Long story short....nothing was broken only rusted. The hub that passes through the transmission case that connects the external linkage to the internal actuating shaft was frozen solid....and I mean solid...to the case. It was necessary to open the case from the top, carefully disassemble and/or move the actuating shafts/ forks/etc out of the way and pound the snot out of the hub...carefully. No parts including the case gasket were needed and no hydraulic spilled. This appears to me to be a case of being too close on tolerances without a means of lubrication. A word to the wise...occasionally actuate your PTO/front wheel drive and shuttle shift even if you don't need them. Thanks again
