Well, you guys convinced me to spend a lot of money. I went to Home Depot this morning and bought two of those 30/60/100 watt Cree LED bulbs for the wife's 3-way lamps, and two more 75 watt so now all 3 on the patio are 75 watt dimmable LEDs. I haven't decided yet if or when I'll change the switch to take advantage of the 3-way feature.

Bird, I hate to tell you this, but while the Cree single bulbs have a very good track record, the new Cree 3 way 30/60/100 bulbs you just spent a lot of money on do not. They are new, and they seem to be having about a 50 percent failure rate early on. Save your receipt.

how much was the LED 3 way?

James, I do always save my receipts anyway, and at $21.97 each plus tax, the 2 cost me $47.57 at the Denton, TX, Home Depot.

Maybe you got a couple of good ones. I hope so. I would like to have some myself, but the reviews on the internet are not very favorable of these, which is interesting as the single wattage 60's is excellent. I have one of those, and like it a lot. Hopefully they will get the bugs worked out, and the prices down.

The reason I asked was I got a google response of $100. At that price I would never buy one.

I have 4 LED spot lights for outside lights, they are on their second winter and so far no problems. As soon as hydro hits them they are on and are aimed in such a way that you are blinded when you approach the house at night.
Looking4new, I'm curious what you are using for LED spotlights assuming they are nice and bright. My spotlight has dual halogens with the rectangular holders. Super bright but I bet not so efficient. They are 10+ years old and still going strong but my electric rates keep jumping up. I've contemplated switching to LED but reviews are all over the place for exterior spotlights.

I understand now, but didn't know they even made 3-way LED bulbs. That would be nice, but one problem is that it would ONLY be used on the brightest setting.

Bird, I like 3-way bulbs best in my bedroom. Often the 1st setting is just enough and high is way to bright at certain times of day. Please post back with how you like that Cree 3-way bulb.

Thanks.

Mike, on either side of our bed, we have touch lights that have two 3-way, small bulbs in each, and we've had these two lamps since about 1995, so in nearly 20 years we've never changed a bulb. Of course we don't use them a great deal.

These Cree 3-way bulbs in the living room are great. But of course, how great will just depend on how long they last.;)
