Ballast wont do squat for your issue anyway. It will just sink your slimey turfs faster. Get yourself a set of chains from tirechains.com You can look up whats availible for your size tire. A 2 link ladder chain would work well for you, or a 4 link if you want to save some $$. I just ordered a set of 4 link ladder chains for my gigantic turf and im pretty happy with them.
I wouldn't go so far as to say ballast won't do "squat", but I will agree that tire chains will help. I would also recommend 2 link ladders, and steer clear of 4 link ladders.

These are small tractors, even with loaded tires.............I figure I'm just shy of 2,000lbs............That ain't much weight pulling a 5' blade.

Is anyone aware of a Canadian dealer for tire chains? I checked out Tirechains.com, but they want a $100 for shipping, plus they are sending it with UPS, so I am going to have to pay a crazy amount of brokerage. These costs will double the cost of the chains.

Here you go.

Paid $250 for the rear chains when we bought the 1635 back in 2009.

Let me know how you make out.

I more or less meant loaded tires wouldnt change a turfs traction in the slippery conditions as he described. I had to go with 4 links as my rear turfs are 44x20x18. They are about 3 1/2 feet tall. They get heavy and expensive, but 2 links would have been nice.
